I don't think many people realised how much of a cool moment 7:40 is. He switches to his loop mic and records lower harmony first, but forgets that it takes 4 bars to loop, so he switches to higher harmony too early. Despite that, he doesn't lose his composure and records the 2nd loop with higher harmony first, and makes it sound seamless. This speaks about his gargantuan experience performing live with the loop pedal. Idk, man maybe I'm fanboying ahahaha
@400_billion_suns Жыл бұрын
He might’ve also done that on purpose to make those 4 bars more interesting to the listener while he’s constructing the loop (we hear low high high low instead of low low high high). Either way though, there’s no doubt he is supremely skilled at this, and he tends to do things slightly differently every performance which shows that he’s not just repeating the exact same rehearsed cues every time.

5:58 is the sound of Heaven. The sound of hope. To me it symbolizes the feeling of finally realising you have found someone who loves you despite your flaws. Someone who cares more about you than themselves, and you cry uncontrollably for fear of losing them or even worse, for fear of hurting them. A person so pure that this world probably doesn't deserve but surely needs. An Angel.

I found this version like six years ago, then i listened to it everyday. I still listen to it on a monthly base. And still everytime I get amased on how good this is, this is pure perfection. From every little mistake which is weirdly in the right place to his intonation and looping skills. Everytime I listen to this I need time to proces it afterwards. It feels like his world for those 8 minutes, and I am just a ghost in that world listening to it.

Even before he recorded this he had probably played this song thousands (if not tens of thousands) of times. Yet he STILL performs it with this much emotion, he is an incredible artist and performer.

I feel in love with his music aroung this time… I really don’t enjoy the radio stuff he has put out in the recent records, he is at his prime and best when he does stuff like this, lyric focused, storytelling, pulled down.. I still think he is a musical genius specially live like this. Hoping he goes back to this kinda of sound

***** Well, obviously. :p I mean, we can see him as he performs it live. People are silly for getting "Live" and "Studio" confused (not aimed at you). Some (though few) bands/artists perform their songs for their albums. Of Monsters and Men come to mind as one of those few who record live in a studio. I wish more did...

I remember years ago when I first listened to Ed Sheeran and I absolutely fell in love with his music, every song he recorded was my favourite and I can still to this day say that everything he writes is amazing. I found this video and all the other live recordings that he has done and was just purely amazed by how much talent he has. His music has gotten me through so much shit, when my depression and anxiety was at its worst I would put his music on replay and just sit there and listen to him for hours and hours. His music was and is still to this day an escape for me and one of the things that actually gets me though tough times. Thank you, Ed Sheeran.

the quality of the tracks from this recording session are fantastic. One of my favorite things about Ed is that he sounds good in any space - radio show, TV, large and small concert venues, the studio. There is as much consistency in the quality of his performances as there is in his gift for making more songs I want to hear him perform. listening to this song with headphones on, eyes closed, I remember watching him perform it at Red Rocks and just being amazed that he was able to do this version so well that deep in the set. When he started singing I See Fire, which as a Tolkien fan I appreciate as a masterful and accurate tribute to a great story, I wondered if he would hit those last notes or flatten them a bit. He crushed that song from beginning to end. Can't wait for the next album and the next show. next track please..
