Songkran (Thai: เทศกาลสงกรานต์) is the Thai traditional New Year and is Thailand’s most famous festival. The highlights of the festival include colorful parades, traditional ceremonies, and playful water fights. The largest water fight in the world will take place here. You'll also get a glimpse into the local culture and customs that make this festival such a unique and special experience.
Festival Date:
Songkran Festival takes place in April every year, from the 13th to the 15th.
In some cities, various festivals will be held from April 12th or earlier and will end on April 16th or 17th.
There are many traditional ceremonies in Songkran festival. Especially in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, where there are the most traditional ceremonies.
Name of Procession:
"Procession of Holy Bodhi Tree supportive wood and sand offerings to temple"
People bring some wood to the temple. This ceremony is probably intended to express support for the construction of the temple.
