Memories galore of my youth. Led Zeppelin still the best 70’s band hands down. Like who doesn’t love primal or rock ‘n’ roll. I often refer to them as the Vikings of the 70s. I’m counting on you younger folks to keep this great music alive again.✌🏻

This song, and this album, put Led Zeppelin on top of the Rock world in 1970, and the owned that top spot until the death of their drummer, John Bonham in September, 1980.

Enjoyed your reaction, thanks. Led Zeppelin is considered one of the greatest rock bands in history. IMO, they were THE best and well worth a deep dive. If you want to do an album review, even if you break it up into a song or two at a time, I highly recommend that you start with album 1 and just keep going. It's the best way to understand their incredible creativity and versatility. Keep in mind when you listen to studio cuts that there was no auto tune or computer-generated anything back then. What you hear is just how they sounded, and they were incredible. Even though Zeppelin disbanded 40+ years ago, their music is streamed on services world-wide tens of millions of times every month. Think about that! They were clearly gifted musicians and their music is timeless. Thanks again and rock on! :)

And please, PLEASE, first listen to the studio recordings before viewing/listening to any live version of a song. This is not to say that live performances are not entertaining. It's to say that live performances are usually wildly different than the original studio recording, typically with compromises in audio quality and musicianship. To have the best frame of reference to appreciate what a band does live on stage, you are better off if you know what the band did in the studio when their sole objective was sonic perfection.

To get an idea of how versatile their music was listen to"Dazed and Confused" then" When the Levee Breaks" then "The Rain Song" and then "Rock and Roll'. You can go on and on and on and on. Greatest band ever. Way too many great songs to try to list.

In Australia in the 1970s (I don't know if it was anywhere else in the world) there were 2 signs that were popular to have on the back of a panel van. One was "if this van's a rockin don't bother knockin" and the other one was " Don't laugh it could be your daughter in here"

Great Reaction, love that break in the middle and then when the guitar kicks it all back off. Led Zep have many blues, rock, folk and other influences and so many of their songs would be considered different genres. Glad you are still following that rabbit hole.

Now that is how you react you wait till the song is over, good job. That is how to listen to music. Some of these clowns turn it off every few seconds. That drummer is one of the best ever John bonzo Bonham. He drove that song with so.e amazing drumming.

John Bonham, known as “Bonzo, the Beast” was the drummer and he had the combination of power, stamina, technique and stage presence that made him stand out. However, he also had an instinct to play thunderously loud and hard, breaking lots of drum heads along the way. Esteemed for his speed, power, fast single-footed kick drumming, distinctive sound, he is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential rock drummers in history!!!! Please check his famous triplets effect in Black Dog kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKXPhKtmn9Cogq8

Stick twirling is one of my favorite things about good drummers. I could do it a little back when I was messing around with drones and I still probably could but nothing like this stuff and what I find fascinating is John Bonham is one of the earlier people to really start exaggerating that. And I would love to watch a little documentary about the history of it because I'm pretty sure I've seen it also though in old black and white clips with like either super old like either big band drummers or in black jazz bands that weren't like slow blues, but really upbeat fast shit. But it was very restrained compared to what you seen with John Bonham. And of course nowadays it's even way more exaggerated but I love all of it.

That’s not really accurate. By the time this came out Herman’s Hermits were already considered passé and The Beatles had moved WAY beyond “She Loves You”, plus there were other great bands like The Doors, The Who, Hendrix, The Stones, etc. Stop trying to lie to the youth!

Hello, Master Dragon. Looking in to see if you need any assistance. This song was all over the dances in high school. All of the local bands were trying to play it enough for the dances. They were experimental and in this video I hear the seeds of Pink Floyd. Of course, these days I hear different things in this song. Also, I've done some sociological study into the rock band culture and let me just say I'm less comfortable with this song now. But this was the stuff that was selling. They weren't the last band to represent orgasm musically. LOL! It is very much a "root chakra" vibe. Grandma Ellen, over & out. 💜

Yet on their official YT channel, this song..... one of their most iconic songs... 46 seconds of music was removed from the song for the "Official Video". Why?

As a songwriter, Led Zeppelin should pose some real ethical problems for you. I love their music, but in reality, they're music thieves. Willie Dixon had to sue LZ to get compensated for the songs that he wrote, including Whole Lotta Love. At any point, LZ could have settled and given Mr. Dixon his rightful compensation, but they chose not too. They tried to outlast, outspend and out-litigate him, but in the end they lost.
