"There's only 2 kinds of music. Blues and zippidy do da. And I don't play no zippidy do da." - Townes Van Zandt

Mr Mudd and Mr gold. Imo the most insane song ever written. About a duel of 5 card stud told through metaphors and has a deeper meaning. It is un effin real what is written on those lyrics. Greatest songwriter ever.

Townes had hard, sad life, and you feel that with every song!

my personal favourite townes song in terms of lyrics must be a toss up between Lungs, and Marie. Would love to hear a reaction to marie, the version with townes and willie nelson is an alltime favourite of mine

Just when you think you know Townes Van Zandt you discover something else about him that makes him even greater than you thought he was. For example, I had always assumed that White Freightliner blues was a cover song for him. I guess because so many great bluegrass artists have covered it and it's such a classic. Nope, that was Townes too.

I've always considered Townes a master in the craft, supernatural even. I've been a fan for many years. I've spent entire weekends playing nothing but his albums and letting my mind clear.

I had heard of Townes before but the first time I really paid attention to him I was looking for songs related to Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. While the song isn’t really related to it Townes song The Tower Song fits perfectly. You should check it out if you’ve never heard it.

That might be the best song to explain the last 10 years of my life lol. Kind of just floating through life for a while. The problem is I never expected to live this long, I figured I would have perished before 30. Don't get me wrong the Universe has tried and been very close but for some reason I didn't give in. Maybe there's something I am supposed to do and haven't accomplished it yet, and while that keeps me motivated it also holds me back as I often think we'll if this is what I was here to do once done there's no reason for me to be here anymore. It's like I'm caught in a limbo somehwere between the living and the dead a purgatory of the kind where nothing really changes and I just wait around to die. I tried to fill that void with excess but it a band aid ain't gonna help a burst appendix, it just makes things worse. I guess I just need to find my Codeine but I'd prefer it to be a Woman not a drug, waiting around to die isn't so bad when you get to do it with the most beautiful woman in the world. Plus it's almost guaranteed sex st least once a year 😂😂. I think we are all waiting around to die sinebod us just have more fun doing it than others. You always need to remember no matter what you accomplish or don't in this life, whether they speak your name for a week or for thousands of years after you pass know this... It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things in a million years nobody will talk about humans and how we treated each other like garbage after being given the garden of Eden and everything we needed to live in paradise we spend 40 hours a week barely getting by so some rich asshole can do more cocaine on a boat while getting STIs from prostitutes and that's why you gotta remember that could have been you but you were lazy so get back to work because who knows maybe in the next life you'll be that prostitute 😂🤣🤣😂

They called him the walkin blacksmith. The documentary is outstanding. They sent the film crew to Townes figuring he'd drive them nuts. Lol. Steve Earle said Townes stole the movie. I think the woman is Susanna Guy Clarks wife. Could be wrong.

Ok, I’m hitting subscribe because you’re essentially reacting to my Pandora playlist. Do yourself a favor and listen to “Down the River”, by Chris Knight. And then Ola Belle Reed’s “Undone in Sorrow”.
