White room, three people, two instruments, one voice. This is Samaltau. Adore! Incredibly sensual song, song of pain, song of moan, prayer song. Absolutely relaxed and very focused Dimash, an impossible combination. And he does it. He did a lot. He taught people to admire the most beautiful voice in the world, presented his talent as a gift and, finally, he made the whole world, effortlessly, without straining, listen and admire the songs in the Kazakh language! Isn't this a blow to the nose of European snobs who look down on Asians? We have yet to learn from Dimash tenderness and gratitude to the Earth, which gave birth to Perfection. Joy to you, son!

This performance is unprecedented. Every hair on my body stands on end when I experience this. Each time. Those traditional instruments played with such cultural heart and expertise.....what a treat. Where else does one hear something like this on this level? Dimash’s voice is undefinable. So incredible good. His character is one with the music. He takes us with him into the heartbeat of his people. We are enchanted. And left peaceful...and in awe.

Pure magic. This performance has such an amazing atmosphere, a magical mood, the music flows with Dimash's beautiful voice .... If someone knows the words - he goes with a young forced conscript, in a column of such same unfortunates as he, farther and farther from his native mountain Samal , from his village, from his aging parents left behind, he despairing whether they can cope on his own, or will they see each other again. If someone listens and does not understand the words, his imagination starts to go crazy and it only depends on him what magic place he will move to. Thanks Soul ,

This song is based on the tragic conscription o f Kazakh men, by Russia, in the hundreds of thousands. Dimash is expressing his grief over those of his erstwhile countrymen. He seems to have created a new voice just for this song. Yes, he's conveying the feelings of the men from an area called SamalTau. I'm so glad to observe that the spirit of these men came through to you, and moved you. That's exactly what he was trying to convey.

What amazes me time and time again is the people that hear Dimash and he instantly touches their soul and never stops. And then there are those that hear him and say yea he’s got lots of talent, but are never truly touched by Dimash, and often don’t really care if they hear him again. That mind boggles me. (Of course, there are also the trolls that never hear Dimash and just put him down because he’s not popular in the US, or because he supposedly needs to learn more songs in English. Some folks are jerks.) Thanks, Soul, for reacting to Prince Dimash. Greetings again, and I am from the US. 👍🏼

Dimash has touched me profoundly. I have followed him since I am Singer back in 2017, when I discovered this young voice with the perfect pitch, the expansive range, the dynamics, colors and flavors that I have never heard all coming from the same artist. And when I heard his story and learned about the kind of person he is, I knew that a once in a lifetime vocal prodigy and sensational human being had been introduced to me. I am a Dear and will remain as long as Dimash continues to share his extraordinary gift with the world. I only hope that everybody can be as lucky as me, and find that artist who can bring comfort to their lives on a daily basis.

I'm not sure why you're saying those in the U.S. are putting him down because he needs to learn more English or that he's not popular. I've seen nothing but astonishment, amazement and support from reactors and Dears in the U.S. We filled the Barclays theater NYC last Dec with very little, if any, advertising. Many went to Igor's concert in October just to see Dimash. I would say he's very popular! Most people do not care what language he's singing in, because music has no language when it touches the soul. He did get some very active Vitas supporters after him. I read that they hit the thumbs down no matter what. 🇺🇲🇰🇿💗#welovedimashintheusa 💕💕 #theresjerksineverycountry

through a common music interest in Dimash and his music, yes it is the one that brought us together even though I live in Sweden and my soulmate lives and works in Canada 6,217 European miles from myself, his music together has herb us and we see nothing just him sim this universe's best singer with amazing tones in his voice but look at him as a messenger with a message to all of us to open us all and where he will open the gates to us into the next dimension This he himself talks about is the purpose of his music when he was interviewed before the fifth element Then he started spreading his message through his upcoming tournament and when he was well on his way in this forces of evil, this created covid 19 at the same time and now all the artists have to suffer as they can not have their concerts but I think they want to stop Dimash but he continues to send out his message that bilir more and more clearly in video after video or if we say in song after song, new messages come to us all the time and he does this now with the help of the Internet and of course platforms that are on Yuotube and you have your important part to convey his message and you choose the way you do and I use a little different ways but of course we want to achieve small goals with what we choose to do and that is that all people should also be able to take part in that message as Dimash wants to tell us through his music But all love to you my friend because I look at you as my friend even though we have never met, I notice that you look at Dimash in exactly the same way as I and my self-friend do and I see it in many people in our world now so continue with what you do and both I and my new wonderful amazing beautiful woman in Canada do the same and so does her uncle and own mother myself so I find no support here at home in my country and they are like engrossed in all the shit that created in the hollywood factory and the western music culture and they no longer look to talent as they choose to invest in producing a new good singer but they go for the look that they think sells best even if that person can not even sing and it is also one thing that Dimash showed us that you do not have to constantly hint at being sexy, but it is the work of art in the music that is the important and not the external appearance This was just a little what I now wanted to say to you my friend But as I said I follow you in everything you do and I also see a little angel in both Daniella and angelina jordan as well but it is Dimash who conveys the message or the message to all of us even if not everyone is open to seeing this even if they love his music, unfortunately not everyone sees what we others see in Dimash, but in the end everyone will get the answer Have a wonderful day and continue my friend and hope that I get the pleasure to meet you even in real life and I also write lyrics and poetry all day actually Greetings Kenny

Dimash doesn’t need stage settings, light shows or dancers. Just him, his voice and the music is enough to put you into another world and make you feel. Today on Instagram he quoted Michelangelo that „art is jealous: it requires that a person surrender himself entirely to him.“ That is what he does and we can hear, see and feel that in every performance. It is a huge gift he gives us and I‘m very grateful for this.

Dimash was invited to perform at this years Tokyo Jazz Festival but due to the pandemic it was first cancelled (and he was very disappointed) then it was done as an online concert. So he took part by performing 2 songs, Samaltau and S.O.S which he live streamed from his home in Astana Kazakhstan on his 26th Birthdayon24thMaythisyear, this is his music room/studio in his house. The instruments are a Kobyz, the stringed instrument a bit like a viola, it has two strings of horse hair and has a 5,000 year history, its played here emulating the sounds of the Kazakh steppe, the wolves and other wild animals. The side blown flute is called a Sybyzgy and is emulating the Kazach Golden Eagle and other birds, the Kazach rainstick (bamboo filled with gravel or rice) is emulating the wind in the grass of the steppe, plus the water running off from the Samal mountain. The instruments on the wall are Dimash's collection of various Dombra, plus a shaman drum and a jetigen, a Kazakh zither, all gifts from Dears. I absolutely love this song, I first heard it at the Silk Road Film Festival last year and it stunned me. Here he is performing this powerful song sitting cross legged on a piano stool, he always makes it look so easy when in reality this is a difficult song to sing this well. Bravo Dimash 🌺🌹🌺🌹🌺 Here is the full story of what this terribly sad song is about. Dimash sings from the perspective of a 28 year old soldier who is thinking of his aging parents, his home country and the sacred mountain Samal Tau www.iias.asia/the-newsletter/article/time-ordeal-story-1916-revolt-central-asia

Hello Soul! Yeah yeah this song is one of my favorites . Samaltau is a "Kazakh folk song In 1916, during the second year of Great War (World War I), the Russian Empire carried huge human and property losses. The burden of restocking was laid on subject nations. About 49 million hectares of fertile land were forcibly taken away during the war from Kazakhs. The owners were driven out into the barren wastes. Taxes increased form 3 to 15 times. For the needs of war, livestock and property were mass requisitioned. And finally it came to "requisition" of people. On 24th of June 1916, the Russian Tsar issued a decree that a half-million Central Asians, aged 19-43, were to be mobilised for army and labour brigades in the war effort. This decree was the spark for the Kazakh uprising, although the underlying reason was Russian colonisation and the usurpation of Kazakh lands. Samal tau walk to Omsk.jpg Song "Samal Tau" tells about this sad events for young Kazakh in this difficult time. The song is about young, about 28 year old (a little over 2 mushels = 2 dozens born in the year of the cow = 1889) recruit walking from Samal village (close to Shalkar lake in West-North Kazakhstan) to Omsk, as he was forced to register for the Russian military according to a decree predating the revolt by a few months. He was walking for 15 days and almost reached Omsk. Samal - a gentle breeze, a mountain breeze, bearing the evening or morning cool. The word "samal" itself is associated with something pleasant, bearing enjoyment. Therefore, Kazakhs woman often have a female name Samal. Tau - mountain, hill." And the English lyrics : "My dearest motherland with its immense lake Shalkar. I wonder what my days will be like when I become a solder Thoughts of you arise over and over in my mind My precious land where I was born and came of age I’m not riding, but walking slowly Not even walking, but dragging myself I have been struggling for 15 days I am approaching Omsk I’m twice a dozen years old (2 mushel *) And was born in the Year of the Ox / Cow (**1889) Forced by the will of fate to travel to distant land Samal mountain, my precious motherland I have left you behind We are like a lost herd of horses gone astray I have both my father and my mother They are of advanced age What drove me to sing this sing is, The mourning and heartache of the year 1916… Samal mountain, my dearest motherland With its immense lake Shalkar, I wonder what my days will be like when I become a solder"

The howling of the wolves, the slashing winter winds, the cold moon over the endless steppe..... the anguished loneliness of a young man being driven away from home to die for a strange ruler in a distant land, wondering if he'll ever see his sacred mountain and aging parents again..... Totally evocative and shamanic. An iconic performance.

For me this is one of his special performances that literally bring me to another world. If you closed your eyes and just listened, the voices transported you to vast quiet steppes. And your soul sings with it. It’s really a meditative experience, one of a kind. Never felt like this with any other singers.

It is a traditional song. " Samal Mountain, holy land.." tells the story of a young man who is forced to go to war. Did you see the landscape he was marching through? If not, watch Qairan Elim again.😉 Dimash did a live performance during ceremony at Silk Route film festival. I will send you the link. Worthwhile wstching that too, because of the beautiful stage. Thank you for reacting. Dimash did a mini online concert on his 26th birthday after live chat with fans. This is one of 3 songs he did that day.

There wasn't any third... I have seen the hole tokyo jazz festival live...only sos and Samaltau. And it wasn't a mini concert. It was a festival, which was going at least 3 hours and due to pandemic only online this year.

There are points in your life where you are confronted not by the power or talent but more impactful are those where you are hit by vulnerability and truth. Dimash is one of those who can make it happen. Thank you for your reaction!

That 'flute' instrument (I don't know the name) is a traditional instrument that you use 1/2 of your mouth blowing through & 1/2 lets air out that makes the airier sound. The story is of a young man torn from his family to go to war. He worries about his aging parents and if he will ever see them again and he is weary from endless marching. He doesn't know what lies ahead of him as a soldier.

Thank you for the reaction. Samal Tau is probably my favourite Dimash song, it's so pure and earthy, and for me it shows that Dimash does not need to do vocal gymnastics to prove how beautiful his voice is.

Thank you. Exactly right, you don’t need to know the lyrics to feel this Song. This is an awesome Song. Dimash original performance of this song was broadcast in 2019 on CCTV 6 in China. The link I am putting here for you is from (the original performance) KZbinr “Luena Autumn”, she is a native Kazakh. In her Description and pinned comments she provides the background / storyline of the song, and information on the instruments. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pICtYqNpqtN6maM; with English translation.

Yes you are right, Turkic peoples were shamans in ancient history. And the instrument he used is not the flute, it is "NEY". His voice takes the souls into the realm of imagination. This song is the telling of a sad Kazakh Folk story.

This song is in memoriam for the Kazakh men who were conscripted into the Russian army. One of the soldiers wrote a letter and then dropped it along the way. It has been found, and this song is based on it. Samal Tau is the name of the region where these conscripts were taken from, and this song tells how he was forced to leave his aging parents, and how he felt despair over ever seeing them again, and recognizing that the life of a soldier would not be a good one.
