This game is prettier than Mania, I mean the sprite is such a good design. I understand that Mania didn’t want to make the sprite too original since they were trying to replicate the feel of classic sonic, but this design is so adorable and the whole game is just stunning. It’s hard to compare the two, but this one appeals to what I find aesthetically pleasing, partly because of its originality.

Sprites look awful tbh, pick a style and stick with it. Don't draw some frames one way and other frames another completely different way. And match the art style of the rest of the game, too.

The more i think about it the more i realize Sonic 2 is a cursed game. Even back on it's inception the game was a merely a fraction of the original concept because of time constraints (And evrn the supposed Sega CD cancelled version of the game). Then you have fan projects like Sonic 2 HD which got cancelled, then reborn and even close 2 decades since the project began it still hasn't been finished. And of course this is just another great project that sadly didn't get completed. I guess it's just not meant to be.
