Sonic 1 was a great start. Sonic 2 was more epic in terms of how colossal the bosses would get especially at the end the game. Sonic 3 was just bad ass to show just where your journey was going and Dr E plans. And S&K was just BA flying through space as super sonic with missles and junk.

I love Dr. Robotnik's boss theme in Sonic 3 it's so much better than the other 2 but still the other ones are very good. I love the music on how it gets darker when the sky goes to night and the other music is playing. The final boss theme explains that Robotnik is frustrated and wants sonic GONE. NOW. He uses the big arms as his last destination of Sonic 3. Robotnik isn’t giving up, though. He keeps on fighting, until his last destination explodes. In anger, Robotnik goes onto Sonic’s next adventure to have his plains foiled. Again. Each time you play a different Sonic game (no matter how the order is), you can tell that Robotnik gets angrier and angrier each time you defeat him.

@etocadet The original cartridge of Sonic and Knuckles had another cartridge port on top. Using this you could "lock on" other games to the top of Sonic and Knuckles. Locking on Sonic 2 gave you the ability to play Knuckles in Sonic 2. Sonic 1 allowed you to play endless special stages. Sonic 3 was special though. Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles were intended to be one game, by locking Sonic 3 onto Sonic and Knuckles you were presented with the entire game as it was originally intended.

I'm not sure if you know this, but you can get 2 hits per appearence on the middle boss incarnation. Also there's no vertical scrolling during the boss fight so holding up/down will have no effect. I wonder why you did that so often when you could see there was no results.
