At the risk of being That Guy, the Flying Battery Zone is actually named that because it’s a battery in the military sense of the word- like a gun battery- as opposed to the thing you stick in your TV remote. It’s also a pun on battery farming because, y’know, eggs.

Someone would almost certainly make a ROM hack of the game using his soundtrack. Hell, I might even take a stab at it. Can't be too hard to simply replace audio tracks.

Yes that would be very hard, these covers would have to be converted to the Genesis sound chip and wouldn't even sound the same, the only other way would be if someone hacked Sonic 3&K to port it to the Sega CD and set it up to use CD audio for it's music like Sonic CD. Now, a mod for Sonic 3 AIR though? That would be very doable and would be amazing alongside all the other enhancements! Wide screen, smooth rotation sprites, speed shoes after images, underwater audio filters, and even mods to add even more enhancement like texture packs!

I think much of the OG trilogy soundtrack was inspired by popular music of that era, which definitely included metal (though glam metal, new jack swing, pop rock, pop, and techno were other influences) I agree that Flying Battery sounded (especially when listening to the demo version) like it was meant to be a frenetic, fast-paced rock tune.

I must've missed this when it first came out. This perfectly encapsulates the energy of the original while stepping up the power behind it, and I loved the solo section in the middle. A lot of the end would've worked really well as a replacement for the boss theme of Act I, too.
