To answer Julien's question. She stays dead, Maria usually shows up in Shadow's memories. Also when it comes to Shadow, it's a moral gray area with him. He's talked about whether someone deserves to be gone for the greater good and can be talked out of thinking that way if you have a really good argument.

I think Shadow is going to do his own thing instead of joining Sonic Tails and Knuckles after the movie. Unlike Knuckles, Shadow has always been doing his own thing dealing with his own issues. He is like the Punisher, he is an Anti Hero who has a motive, either it’s good or bad, Whenever Sonic and Shadow team up, it is something in common they both have to achieve and have to collab but not close, but I think he will show up and leave in the future movies, but Shadow is an iconic character so Paramount is going to use him a lot . Shadow does have his own team like Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. (Team Dark)

Believe it or not sonic it’s a lot of inspiration from Dragon Ball, which was stated by the creator. You pretty much know the similarities between the sonic characters and the Dragon Ball characters. Please add the fact that there are super forms in both series make some more parallel than a lot of people would think.

“Shadow is ambivalent to both good and evil.” My question is will he pump his sub machine gun? Kidding aside I do think it’s a bit odd to have Robotniks Grandfather hanging out with Jim Carrey. Like say what you want about Sonic Adventure 2 the ending was actually pretty cool and one of the biggest moments in that is Gerald Robotnik ranting about why he’s chosen to condemn humanity to annhilation because Maria was killed, seconds before his execution by firing squad!

As both a fan of you guys and sonic, I can fully say that Shadow is a hero, just with his own methods of fighting that make sonic and him not on "friend terms" per say. Without a doubt if Shadow does turn good and becomes friends with Sonic, I bet there will be two sides: ones happy to see shadow and Sonic get along, and ones that don't like that the rivalry is no longer there. Either way, I'm hyped for this movie, and Personally you guys should check out the one fandub clip of "The Eggman Announcement", since that is something a lot of people will be shouting when that moon gets cut.

I know people are getting excited about Shadow getting a gun but from what I saw in the games, he had actual machine guns. They just did a 90's censor job and gave him a laser gun. As if a gun that vaporizes you is more kid friendly than having metal balls hitting you.

The big parts are both the moon and gun part. 2001: Sonic Adventure 2 (Shadow’s debut), they used the laser to blow up half the moon. 2005: Shadow gets his own game and has a gun for… some reason.

Personally, I''m hoping Blaze the Cat they eventually bring in because she's much cooler (is an alt universe Sonic by her personality being the opposite and her color scheme inverted such as how Sonic's blue with green eyes, but Blaze is purple with yellow eyes) and can actually go super or as is known as Burning Blaze. Still is the only female Sonic character to have a super form (Sonic and Blaze's super forms swap colors).
