To further elaborate on the answer above: the Mega Drive and other consoles of that era and earlier used sound chips that were mostly designed to read programmed/sequenced audio and generate it via oscillators on the go, because audio files would take up way too much space to store on a cartridge. So Mega Drive music is a programmed sequence that, if harvested, can be separated in instructions for each channel and played as a multichannel thing. In the Dreamcast era we already had the CD, which fit a whole lot more data than your average 90's cartridge, and the sound output was designed to play files like we are used today. So Dreamcast music is essentially .wav files, that you can't just seamlessly separate in channels other than Left and Right.
@hyperslime642 жыл бұрын
That can't happen. That song is just CD audio-- in other words, one sample that contains all the instruments. Unless you somehow found the utility to create the music and the project file itself that Sega used back in the day and solo the channels, there's no deconstructing it.

Are quite noticeable the differences between the other classic Sonic tracks compared to the Jun Senoue compositions. The leads shine more than the bass in the Senoue's style, and the rest of the classic Sonic OST (by the way, inspired in the Masato Nakamura's style) the bass is pretty prominent in the compositions. Here, the bass is average, only backuping the leads and beign simple. Another thing that I can realise in this and the other Senoue's themes is that the bass doesn't turns the styles just like in the other classic Sonic OSTs. In the most of the other sonic music, the bass always turn from slap to fingerstyle and on. But in the Senoue's music, the bass keeps one style all over the theme. I think that what influenced the differences between of the both composers' style is the instrument that they play respectively. Nakamura is a bassist, so his compositions puts more emphasis in the bass which works as a secondary lead. Nevertheless, Senoue is a guitarrist, so his compositions are more oriented in the leads and the riffs, while the bass only is a support to the lead.

That's actually quite an interesting point. I'm still personally trying to piece together the whole Sonic 3 music situation and this might help me find the composer for the proto Launch Base as that track has an unusually really simple bass line
@TheSuperPlayer7074 жыл бұрын
@@futabamajima The composers from the proto are the same whom composed the Non-MJ tracks: the members of the SEGA Sound Team. The Cube Team only worked in miscellaneous music.

@TheSuperPlayer7074 жыл бұрын
The bassline used in the SEGA Sound team tracks are quite inspired in the Nakamura's style, inf fact I rememebr of hearing that one of the members of the team (Tomonori Sawada) commented that the people of SEGA demanded to do that, with the pretetxt that the fans must not feel the composers have changed. Nevertheless, it's quite confusing, because some other composers from the team only reworked scrapped songs, such as the Yoshiaki Kashima's Special Stage music from SegaSonic Bros, and others only said that the reminicences of the style of the soundtracks made by Nakamura wasn't intentional (said by Mikoyo Takaoka via Twitter's feed). So, I think that the Sonic 3 music situation it's never going to be a case closed. The declarations of all the members are way contradictory sometimes (just like was I said above) and maybe never are going to be consistent. Every composer worked by its own vision of how the music needed to be and that makes the commentaries so different. There's also a bunch of clues that the soundtrack was worked by the different composers in different periods of time, what it means that surelly he dirctives from SEGA would have been different depending on which period of time the track was composed. That fact makes the back traking of the composers even more difficult to achieve.

This song proves that even though that there are many bad sonic games... they still care about the music... Panic Puppet Zone Act 1 is literally a banger of a track and has no right coming from one of the worst games in the series. Same story with Sonic 06, I think they spent the whole time working on the music, found out the game was due in 2 weeks, and then started work on the game then

Look, we are talking 1996. At that time, squeezing this much out of the Genesis was pretty, great actually. But people found many errors. And that’s because, well the jump everybody knows about. But 1994, Sonic 3 & Knuckles was a hit. Though they made the backgrounds and Sonic 3D, it was a 2D-played game. So all they took was a 2-year break, then they decided to begin the 3D Sonic world in. And here are the results. It isn’t the best game, but it isn’t the worst, either.
