Sonic & Knuckles: Great for Advance 2 lovers. Knuckles & Tails: Excellent for treasure hunting/chao finding. Amy & Knuckles: Just fun in general. Sonic & Cream: Useful for boss rushes. Knuckles & Cream/Cream & Knuckles: Controls exactly as they should. Sonic & Amy: Badass snowboarding skills. End of argument. Sonic & Tails: Good for Sonic 2: Return of Shadow fans. Yeah i remember beating this as a kid, the normal ending as i could never figure out how to get the chaos emerald as i never had the Manuel, and loved it. But when i played it about a year ago, i too realized that there was a few problems with it, which i do realize is a understatement, but i do think that the problems you both experienced, though this is more for garlous64 (don't know if that is the right name), that it were more of a... personal problem. Ooooohh the movie I've been waiting for. Sonic advance 3 at least to me is a bloated mess. I'm not a fan of most of the stages and the 3 zones to me are to much and seems like padding because it's hard to do something new when we've seen what the stage has to offer when it's been done twice. But at least the ost to me is the best in the trilogy and has great graphics. It also tied up the emerl story arc with gemrl being a robot made from emerls parts. Some of the stages are great and the game is an overall 6/10-7/10 It's a great game if not too bloated in my opinion.

I have one defense for playing as Amy with Sonic. You get to play as Sonic normally does (spinning jump and spindash, etcetera) but you can still use Sonic's Tag Action for a speed boost. It's like playing as regular Sonic (aside from Amy's hammer as your B attack) while also having Sonic as your ally, so two Sonics. Not as useful as playing as regular Sonic and being able to fly, especially in more vertical stages, but I do like the idea of playing with Sonic's regular moveset through Amy and then being able to do a Tag Action Dash for instant speed at any time.

Funnily enough, I just bought this game from a retro game store about a week ago and finished it a few hours after this video was uploaded! As another first time player, I enjoyed the game, but I can definetly see a lot of flaws in it. I love the character combo mechanic, and the game was definitely designed around it. You get a lot of mileage out of using different character combos, and I personally loved Knuckles and Tails (which gives Knuckles a double jump and super jump with his glide), and if you have Cream as a secondary character she can give anyone, including Sonic, the ability to set Cheese on thier enemy for a limited amount of time. She's really good, but you unlock her for the final zone only. The Twinkle Snow boss is definetly hellish, I agree with that. And I did notice the jerk enemy placements and bottomless pits (a Dimps staple!). The level design is also super different, it's far more interlocking and, one might say, cramped, and I can see why that's bad if you mostly played as Sonic. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot more than Advance 2, but Advance 2 started off better and dipped into super frustrating territory. This game didn't have as strong highs, but for me it was a lot more consistent. Interesting to see differing opinions on the game!

Advance 3. Also, Amy & Sonic is most likely one of the best teams for speedrunning, since Trick Actions usually don't do anything other than give you a second chance at life and/or make you go faster. Amy gets access to instant Boost mode and a jump dash, allowing her to get out of some scrapes without having to do some insane platforming.

I beat Sonic Advance 3 again a few months ago and I still think that it is the hardest or at least the most unfair in the trilogy. Crusher deaths, bottomless pits, and strange enemy placement plus some bosses are a pain. I will say this though there are a few teams that do work really well. A few of my favorites were sonic/tails, anyone/cream, and knuckles/tails.

While Sonic Advance 3 is my favourite game in the franchise and my favourite game of all time along with Pokémon Emerald, I do see the flaws this game has specially enemy placement. I also found Ocean Base Act 1 and 2 pretty stressful along with accessing special stages. However, Chaos Angel is my favourite video game level and nothing will change that for me. 🦔👍

Man I have the same memory of this game that RHS had. I especially remember when I was like, 7 or 8, I stayed up at night and found the last chao, beat the last special stage, and finally reached nonaggression. I was as hyped as ever and felt awesome after beating the boss. I fell asleep afterwards, excited to do that again in the morning. I feel like playing through the game again myself, but I still love it way too much to criticize it, especially with the rocking OST. If anything, I'd have to say Advance 3 and Battle had the best OSTs for the GBA hands downnnn 😤

I used to really enjoy Sonic Advance 3. Also the best team to play in this game is Cream and Knuckles with the player controlling Cream. Flight, Cheese constantly circling around you damaging anything it hits and an attack that sends it straight to any nearby enemies. The first boss you can beat just by mashing the attack button. You can really “Cheese” boss fights with these.
