My favorite Sonic game. I had over 200 hours (half of which was spent in the Chao Garden) logged onto my main file, was working on getting all the Emblems, had a lot of amazing Chao, was trying to get all A ranks. Good times, good times. Until my memory cards got either lost or stolen (happened 2 years ago. Storage unit was broken into. Lots was stolen) and I never transferred the file to another memory card. My 14 year old save file is now gone…

I played blind as a kid on Dreamcast, but as an adult on PS3 I could look up stuff on my phone, like which stats are effected by which animals and chaos drives, and the exploit to reuse animals and chaos drives in the Chao garden let me level up my Chao enough to win all the races in a fraction of the time.

This was the the very first game my brother and I bought with out GameCube. The issue we had was that we didn't know we needed a memory card to save our progress so everyday until we bought a memory card we would play the game from the beginning and go on until we stopped for the day. And then we bought a memory card and our fun actually began. I loved this and I wish it would come out for the switch on the virtual game menu.

This game is legendary: just a lot of fun mechanics and gameplay into an awesome story, including post game content! There are notable flaws though, with the camera system easily being one of the worst of those flaws, as well as poor game design in some areas. Going for all emblems and A ranks in all of Knuckle’s stages was difficult for all the wrong reasons: the game expects you to just run around the map endlessly just to find a tiny hidden upgrade or area that lets you progress through the missions. It’s great if you have a walkthrough to skip through the tedious missions of the game, but they could all be fixed by just giving the player some better directions. The hints are so vague at times that it makes it nearly impossible to find the items you need unless you either run around the map for a while or just use a walkthrough guide. But assuming you have a guide and that you can deal with the camera, this game is amazing. Great controls, great level design, great aesthetics, as well as a great amount of content. It’s definitely frustrating for a lot of wrong reasons.

You should consider editing the footage so what you are saying matches what you do on screen. When you mentioned the Speed gameplay, you showed Knuckles' treasure hunting gameplay, when you mentioned the treasure hunting gameplayed, you showed the mech gameplay. You pretty much showcase every single thing you mention in the video, yet there is only 3 seconds where the footage matches the dialogue. You already have the corresponding footage, why not edit it in a different order just to add context to your explenations?

It’s a good question, some days I do try to sync it up and other days I just get shots in order and let it run. A lot of times I’ll record these videos in bulk and edit down just to certain shots or moments that I feel have the most value. Getting all these shots and editing them down, then getting the voice over recorded can take like 45 minutes to an hour all for a 1-minute video. Sometimes I simply don’t have enough time to finesse a video into being perfect. I also record audio unscripted after I record video and sometimes what I want to say about the game doesn’t line up with what’s being shown perfectly. That being said, I’ll try to be more conscious about what I’m saying and what I’m showing and re-edit to reflect that if I have the time to do so

I’m sorry the video didn’t line up to how you would’ve liked, it’s nice to believe I did actually have the 5 minutes to re-align the videos as you suggest, but in reality my day job takes up a majority of my time and I typically make these videos hastily so that I can try my best to meet deadlines of posting to adhere to some level of consistency. While your complaint/advice is correct and what should’ve happened, it just wasn’t in the cards given the circumstances of my life behind the scenes. This game is way more than just a port of the Dreamcast original, let me explain. Battle contains new game modes and is entirely reworked graphically, basically being built from the ground up for the Nintendo GameCube. It is a remake, not a straight up port and does play differently and has It's own unique set of issues when compared to the Dreamcast original. In fact, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was so successful, it outsold the original and is likely the way most people were introduced to Sonic Adventure 2.

Sonic Adventure 2 battle is kinda broken and messes up a lot of stuff from the original, that were never an issue and also remove a lot of features. Obvioisly, the fact it sold more, doesn't mean it's better. The dreamcast was a dying a console that had half the playerbase and SA2 came out at the very end right when Sega gave up on the console market. Of course, SA2 would sell more on the highly more successful gamecube.
