Of these having fully completed Advance 2, Unwiished, Rush Adventure, both versions of Sonic Generations (vastly preferring the 3DS), and Sonic Frontiers I feel qualified enough to state my opinion that I personally really, *really* do not like Boost Style Sonic games even though I can understand why other people would. Why do I bother saying this? Because I felt like sharing that Frontiers' Boost is hands down my favorite iteration and my reasoning is that it's nothing like "traditional" Boosting. Instead of locking him into a stiff Go-Kart-esque control scheme where to handle decently he must be blasting forward non-stop, more often than not as a juggernaut, while drifting turns and sidestepping lanes because he can't turn and in some iterations can barely swerve Sonic Frontiers' Boost is essentially a sprint button that is highly maneuverable and can't destroy enemies requiring timed transition back and forth between Boosting and Sliding to maintain speed along enemy infested terrain.

i would count rush as the first sonic game with boost, because the ones before dont work like how we interpret the boost now : as an abilty tha tis pressed that give sonic a burst of speed making him invincible to enemies (mostly badniks) attacks.

I think Sonic Frontiers's boost is the best (yes it is not as fast as in Generations and Unleashed, but it is now not a k#$ler feature, sonic can't damage enemies and it is cool)
