If I remember correctly, the initial build of the PC version shipped with some Wii dev files and the animation data for the cutscenes. And when that was discovered, some fans imported that data into blender and started to rebuild the cutscenes from those pieces. Not sure if it's the same people that did it here, but I assume that's how they did it.

​@@senttex1407They are the same people. It was an oversight during development, as Blind Squirrel was given all of Colors' files to work with, including those not on the original Wii disc itself, like the cutscene files.

It's a shame that I hear so many fans nowadays saying this game was never good, when it easily gave us some top tier music (original and remixed) and THE MOST unique environments in the series. The wisps may have overstayed their welcome now, but here it was a creative way of giving Sonic access to new and old moves for shortcuts, allowing the game to maintain complexity, even with a simplified control scheme for the Wii Remote. It BELONGS in the conversation when people talk about the boost games. Especially because it's the one mainline boost game that actually makes the boost a resource that needs to be managed for effective use. Colors IS a good game.

I honestly agree with all of this. However, when you play some of the remixed music during some of the stages, it can feel off. For example, Planet Wisp sounds like the Wisps are having a rave and celebrating that their home is being destroyed.

I think the reason people were upset is because it's kind of a glorified port more than a remake and the new features they did add kind of took away from the original a bit (ghost wisp's usage literally involves stage redesigns and invisible walls to force you to use the ghost wisp) as well as the Tails revival mechanic that was unnecessary as there aren't many bottomless pits in the game you can easily fall in. We kind of wanted this remake to be a combination of the DS version with the Super Sonic boss added and the mission stages to justify buying it again. Don't get people wrong, Sonic COLORS is a fantastic game, but Sonic Colors Ultimate felt too much like reselling the same game. At least modern gamers can play it, but given the level design is literally full stages cut up into chunks to pad it out, you kind of feel it more in the remake than you did on the Wii.

@@danielgurnye1357 They really should've played the new Planet Wisp remake for act 4, and left Act 1 alone, the soft piano opening was done cinematically and they kind of ruined it with the remix for act 1. Though most of the other stages seem to just have louder and more energetic percussion from what I could tell, but I do like Starlight Carnival's remix (course that song was always super good).

The wisps transform into pure energy when they're powering up Sonic. In the IDW comics, that's also the reason why they're safe from the Metal Virus when their powers are being used, even though they're not immune normally. (Since the virus can infect organic matter, but not pure energy.)

@@shaden99 It's a game that is not for everyone and it's a little unorthodox for a Sonic Game. The level design is catered for the Wisps even when they aren't required. However once it clicks on you, it does click on you. I feel this game is like the Sonic CD of Modern Sonic games.

I feel like this mod can go even better if they actually make you fight tails instead of just having that go nowhere. Aside from that, this mod looks great. Just make the lip syncing better, retuen the old ligr system, and the bosses harder and it will be a masterpiece. These fans put more effort into a working remaster port than blind squirlle and sega.

Seems outside the scope of this project. It's primarily a graphics overhaul to fix that botched state colors ultimate was left in. Implementing new boss fights might be asking too much for seemingly one person.

It's certainly great, it makes Sonic Colors Ultimate ultimate, but... it's definitely not enough for the game to be at the level of PS3 and Xbox360 games. If we want to even come close to this, we should also use other mods that make the game better, so that as a result Re-Rainbow can become a collection of mods that do what a remaster should do. In addition, the author of the mod should definitely be thanked for the work done, but there is still much to come. There is something to change in the original game: put some of Sonic's abilities on separate buttons, for example, drift; add new bosses or supplement old ones; edit cutscenes. Only a collection of mods or a game like Sonic P06 can make Colors even close to Ps3 and Xbox360 level games

You don't want a remaster of Colors. You're asking for a remake. Stuff like different cutscnes, different bosses, etc. are changes that would often be made in a remake that changes those aspects. A remaster just takes the original game and makes it nicer. And you really want them to edit the cutscenes? They already re-rendered each one how much more do you want

Fans and modders have the luxury of not having to worry about meeting deadlines, pleasing higher-ups, or shifting focuses between multiple projects. Of course, that’s not to excuse Colors Ultimate being released the way it was, but just keep in mind that fans don’t work under the same conditions and circumstances as professional devs.
