Fun fact: They actually didn’t lose the files to the original cutscenes. All of them are easy to access on the PC version amongst other stuff from the Wii version such as test levels. Why they were left in and why they didn’t just rerender the cutscenes? Who knows!

Then I have bad news, lads: there’s only one save file for Ultimate. Meaning that, if you want to start a fresh game file, you have to delete your first one. I don’t know if that impacts your unlocked cosmetics (I don’t think it does), but it sucks when you remember the OG Colors allowed for multiple save files and that a lot of 3D Sonic games had only one save slot: Generations, Lost World, Forces, and now this.

@@gamermanx3096 This one Savefile thing in recent games confuses me. I mean SA1,2 and Heroes all had multiple savefiles and so did Colors Wii. The only reason I can think off for the way would be that multiple accounts allowed for multiple safe files on consoles since the XBox360 days. The Wii had no such feature and so Sonic Team put safe files back in. And they don't care enough for the PC gamers to give them a comfort feature.

Just wanted to point out that Ohtani clarified on Twitter that he was remixing the tracks he originally worked on. Kenichi Tokoi composed Planet Wisp so he did the remix as well. Granted it was all under Ohtani’s musical direction so Tokoi was under that type of musical style.

While I personally didn't mind the amount of bloom, I do think you're right that it could be a problem when it reflects too much off of the characters. I also get why people won't like the amount of synth in the remixed soundtrack, but I still also think it's really great as well. I do hope that I can get my copy soon, especially since they've already confirmed on the Sonic Official Livestream that their will be a patch coming out very soon. I personally hope that those in-game cut-scenes do get a heavily upgraded, it's really unusual as to why they haven't at least made a better version of them. Thanks for the review Sam, at least you had made jokes while critiquing it!

15:40 I thought the Planet Wisp remix was done by Kenichi Tokoi but I honestly can't remember and because the OST isn't out I can't check yet. But the point you make here is valid that something is missing from the new remix of the song, and it's missing that dissonance between soothing piano and rigid bassline the original had. But at the same time I kind of love the club music sound that the avatar levels in Forces had so I won't complain that much. I do like Roger Craig Smith’s voice acting for the entire game franchise, but I Jason Griffith has been a fan favorite for the most part because I can feel sonic is more of a teenager where as Roger, as Sam put it, sounds like a surfer dude. Honestly, most of these bugs don't annoy me as much. What did annoy me while I was playing though, was the sound. It messed with me big time when the sound would just shift between the right and left ear for now reason, and also like you said in your review, when sounds/music just decided to take the day off and not play. It should be noted that Planet Wisp, Sweet Mountain, Asteroid Coaster, and Terminal Velocity are the works of Kenichi Tokoi, not Tomoya Ohtani, and that more than likely includes those levels' remixes. The OST was a joint effort. Tokoi actually also did a lot of the best themes in Unleashed and the Adventure games, alongside Fumie Kumatani--it's just those two were almost never the lead composers for those games (and fun fact: Ohtani's first role in Sonic was the Knuckles raps for SA2, hilariously).

I appreciate your commentary about Planet Wisp feeling too much like "club music" in the remake, but I feel like it's worth noting that the remix of "Reach for the Stars" did the opposite, and I *love* it for that! The soft piano opening and buildup, the slight chord progression changes, and the light piano in the background throughout the song really sold it for me. They took such a great song from the original and made it even better.

The main issue I have isn't the bloom, in fact, in person I actually think it looks perfectly fine. (Playing on Series X and OLED TV). It's the motion blur thats absolutely hideous, I wish there was a setting for us to turn it off entirely or that they'd fix it in a patch because as of now it really is an eye sore. The music mixing is also a big issue, constantly hearing sound effects in 1 ear or music not playing entirely. And I just finished act 5 of Tropical resort and the game randomly gave me the max amount of park tokens you can get which is 99999 and spending them doesn't make it go down. Really hope some of the issues will get addressed in a patch asap. Aside from that gameplay wise it's still the loveable Colors I remember from 11 years ago and although there are a fair share of glitches I'm still enjoying the game!

Correction Sonic IS faster than the speed of light because at this point in time he is capable of going faster than his light speed dash. Second despite the color that is NOT a black hole but an explosion caused by the massive release of hyper go-on energy which is stated to be comparable to chaos energy. So yes Sonic is going faster than the speed of light.

The tails save is so broken, it lets you farm tokens so easily, like there's a part in Starlight Carnival Act 3 where there's 2 easy to get tails saves and 2 easy to get tokens close to eachother, and you can just keep getting the 2 tails saves and 2 tokens, then dying, and then getting them over and over again for infinite tails saves and tokens, cause the tails save lets you keep your tokens when you die and they also reappear, it's so exploitable

Honestly, Colors being remastered made me smile and happy, literally my first 3D Sonic game shows its "true Colors" or like I say personally "shows how I saw Colors back then when I was young" and watching gameplay and people sayin that they are hyped for it made me go back an play it, actually while Im writing this Im exactly on Asteroid Coaster map on Act 1 xD. Now, with this port Im reaaally hyped for SEGA making an "Unleashed Ultimate" cuz well...as you may noticed on my comment...I just have Nintendo consoles, more specificly Wii,Wii U, NX (I preffer calling it that...more..."cooler" xd) so yeah, I just played the Dimps version of Unleashed and Im dying to play the Sonic Team version, all I can do is watch gameplay with a tear on my eye while saying "this looks reeeeeeeally good...." :'). Getting back to CU, hope new fans and non-fans get onto the Sonic Universe with this game, pretty good on levels and not that "hard" to handle. Great vid Sam!!!

Do You Wish Sonic Colors Was More 3D Then 2D

@@TRG_R17 hell yeah, of course, as I said, it was my first 3D Sonic game, I got Unleashed for the wii after Colors and I was like "This is a lot better, more challenging, is this game really older than Colors?" (My childhood mind said that if it was older it will be bad or "underlevel of quality") Then I saw Unleashed on Xbox and Ps3 on YT and got like " :|....i kinda feel scammed" xDDD I was a kid back then, I was born on 2001, my age goes after the year number so I was 9 years old, I didn't had an open mind at the moment to choose wich game was right and wich one was wrong or to even say what actually tell people more often nowdays that is "....sometimes I wish videogames were like on those old days where I was not even a thing on my parents minds" (I was raised like a mid 90's games kid, I played SNES game since 5 years up to 8 so yeah...) There are sometimes I had the thought of "hmmmm.....how could have been Colors if it was designed more like Unleashed HD...It would be a lot better of course but It would have had the same popularity?" xD

i think the planet wisp remixes were actually remixed by Kenichi Tokoi. But I don’t blame you thinking it was Ohtani because of dem club song in forces lmao. So Tomoya Ohtani did Tropical Resort, Starlight Carnival, & Aquarium Park. Kenichi Tokoi Remixed Sweet Mountain, Planet Wisp, & Astroid Coaster. Lastly with the great Jun Senoue for the Remix of Terminal Velocity.

Hey Sam, just gonna leave a quick Mention, Ohtani actually never touched the Planet Wisp remixes, that was all Kenichi Tokoi, Ohtani only remixed, Tropical Resort, Aquarium Park, and I Believe he helped with the final boss remix, along with composing the little diddies for Rival Rush, the overly synthisized composition from Sweet Mountain and Planet wisp as mentioned before is Kenichi Toikoi, who thankfully cleaned up the synth in Asteroid Coaster, hope this helps a little bit!

I'm pretty sure the remix for Planet wisp was made by the original composer Kenichi Tokoi. I'm only addressing this because I see many people directing their complains to the soundtrack solely on Tomoya Othani. Nonetheless, great review.
