Purely my theory: Sonic in one of his adventures fell down and drowned. (8:35) Tails, Knuckles and his other friends never found the body. Sonic's soul is out for revenge, but he doesn't remember exactly what happened, so he assumes he was betrayed and killed, so he starts killing his friends in sophisticated ways. Moreover, he began not according to the canon creepypasta, not with Tails, but with Knuckles. I think Knuckles suggested that the others give up and stop looking for the blue hedgehog. He kills Eggman because of the old, "good" enmity with him. Why, our crazy doctor was not surprised when he saw the ghost of a hedgehog? There is a possibility that the doctor himself apparently does not know about what happened to Sonic, and therefore he was not surprised when Sonic showed up after a long time. He acted in the "old fashioned way", for which he immediately paid the price. After killing his arch-enemy, Sonic goes into a cave, where our little fox finds him, who is trying to understand what the hell is going on here. Seeing Sonic, he first rejoices, and then having a good look at him, he gets scared. The demon hedgehog notices him, Tails wanted to run, but it was too late. Tongues of flame suddenly covered his body, he burns. Miles Prower became the latest victim of the restless spirit of Sonic, he will continue to take revenge in order to finally rest in peace. This is just my theory, probably far-fetched and does not make logical sense. :/

the sonic apparition feels like an eldritch horror monster to be honest, seems more like a possession or something. for all we know, this might be a Bruce Banner kind of thing where Sonic turns into this beast if he dies or something. you won't get to find out in 15 minutes of footage for sure so best to wait for the whole thing

7 minutes in and already this is on par with the legendary Sonic.EXE games, like Spirits of Hell, Nightmare Beginning, PC port, etc. This is a new Sonic.EXE game that will be remembered. The physics are authentic, the level design is great, the graphics not only stay true to the classic era but also add enhancements such as a foreground, reflective and waving water, and a more animated background, and the jumpscares are really well done. This feels like an official Sonic horror game. Edit: after watching the whole video, I still agree with my statement. The one thing that confused me was that the sprite design changed throughout the game, and now I think I know why. The sprites change to look slightly more realistic as the game goes on, that would explain why Tails looks different at the end. Also, 12:39 is the one jumpscare that actually made me jump (the other jumpscares were scary, just in the unsettling way), and this is funny because it was not meant to be a jumpscare, or at least I think.

Here's a few things I found (other than the very obvious one at the end of Green Hill) Uhm... I'm goin' back. - - - - - - - Secret 1, Green Hill Tails sits in place at one spot and trembles. I continue on, and a countdown starts. 15 or so seconds, I think? I only had enough time to sweep the area back and forth before the Sonic.EYX monster swooped down and snatched me. The 'nope' route - - - - - - - Secret 2, Crystal Lake During one of the times the game goes completely quiet and the sky is pitch black, I decide to turn around, and I find Soulless Tails waiting for me in the foreground where the 1up should be. Ray runs red - - - - - - - Secret (or so) 3, Cave I paused a few times while Ray makes a break for it through some sort of cave, and the HUD read the following: Sonic Please Stop _______ Somebody Help Me ___________ PLAYER SAVE ME ________ So yeah. Super-Sonic sight - - - - - - - Secret 4, Crystal Lake 2 I paused some more during the cutscene where Sonic spots a capsule, and I, myself, spotted another Sonic with blank eyes staring daggers at me. In a video I watched, Rosy was there. Giving up - - - - - - - Secret 5, Green Hill I decided to spend 3 of my lives on a badnik or two, and Sonic.EYX jumpscared me for my efforts. Static Skip - - - - - - - Secret 6, Crystal Lake I squeezed my way under the platform that a static screen poofs while you run across it. So that's about all I remember.

Honestly, this is very well-made. The sprite works are amazing and it's really mysterious. Only complaints I have is that the stage-like background should be worked on a bit more (they just look unnatural and even come with you when you're in the air) and I feel there could be less reliance on jumpscare screamers (this kind of scaring is just not my type), but aside from that, it's a great .EXE game. Definitely hope it'll be worked on even more.
