Probably would have, given the chance. Infinite only needed Eggman to tune the phantom ruby and provide it with a power source. Infinite only cares about being number one - and if that meant killing Eggman, he'd be able to do it with little resistance. Eggman hasn't shown the foresight to plan for his sidekicks turning on him; he destroyed all the prototypes that could've possibly served to counter the completed phantom ruby. How could he possibly stop someone with the power to edit someone's perception of reality?

So true. He seemed like the next big thing. Honestly I don't understand what Sega was thinking at the time they were making this character. Making him have an inferiority complex and only *that* being his defining feature was an extreme let down from what people thought he was going to be. This theme had me hype but it died as soon as I saw the crybaby in the "IM NOT WEEEEAAAAAKKK" cutscene. Its such a shame.
