Apparently its been in dev since before final horizons dropped. So it's been almost 2 years by now, and they already have the engine and framework for it this time thanks to Frontiers. As well as a bigger budget. They absolutely have what they need now. Lets hope they nail it.

Hopefully they actually have fully expressive animations. A lot of the characters in frontiers feel very stiff and limited in their expressions, especially Sonic in game play. He feels very heavy in stomp attacks and going into ball form; Sonic should feel very fluid and not to mention the tricks not being as expressive as tricks in Unleashed/Generations.

Maybe it’s just me, but I am excited while simultaneously keeping my expectations low. Sonic Team had one great game, but I think they’ll need to do a bit more to earn my trust again. Hopefully we can only go up from here!

One thing that I for sure want them to do for Frontiers 2 is to keep the boss fights a spectacle. Even if they can't have each boss be a Super Sonic fight again, then just make base Sonic raw in the boss fights. And if there's rival fights, make those a spectacle too. Like make it possible for Sonic to have a clash with Shadow for example.

Yea, we already know Base Sonic is a powerhouse, but that often gets overlooked since it's always Super Sonic doing the cool stuff (Not counting Colours or Forces, since their spectacle is nowhere near Frontiers), having a boss with the shear coolness factor of Frontiers Titans, but as Base Sonic would be awesome.

If Sonic Team can take all the feedback fans are requesting, take what fans loved about frontiers to improve upon them, and go all out with new ideas and you got yourself a Banger AAA Sonic game. As long as Sega doesn’t interfere and rush them we good

The things I want in a Frontiers sequel are more “sonicy” environments with loops, ramps to fling yourself, and of course the grind rails. I’d love to see them expand the environment variety too. Don’t let it just be set on an island, have city worlds or amusement parks or factories. Another thing I would love to see are more playable characters or at the very least let Tails Knuckles and Amy be playable from the get go that’d be nice. Fixing the jank and pop ins is of course a given but maybe get rid of any and all 2D sections too. The story I feel should be less focused on the past with references and lore and more a stand-alone shonen story with action and character moments that show how everyone grew from Frontiers. The boost coming back is something I could take or leave, I don’t mind it if it does return but it’d be cool to see how they would make an open zone Sonic without the boost. That’s basically my wishlist for a sequel, sorry if it’s a bit long lol.

On the boost removal thing. I saw something in showin's momentum mod for Frontiers, where you could have the boost be a single burst of speed, that then coolsdown after use, and not something you hold down infinitely. And yes, the momentum physics is always fun, but i dont need it to be fangame level because flying over entire maps isnt fun.

When music is involved, I know Ohtani usually goes with one guest per game to keep it interesting, but hear me out here. I think Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low would be a great fit as he also a huge fan of the games since the first video game he ever played was Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive (EU Name for the Genesis). If we're going to continue going the more heavier route, then I would definetley reccomend either Vic Fuentes (Pierce the Veil) or Oli Sykes (Bring Me the Horizon), just to keep things consistent from Frontiers' Music Direction for the bosses.

I really do wanna see some nice sidequests next game, a big part of that will obviously be having an actual NPC presence. I liked the moody, quiet atmosphere of Frontiers, but it would be nice to have a switch-up to having lively towns and the like next game where there's a lot to interact with! More than anything we really need polish, proper dev time and budget lol

Sonic Frontiers really is the perfect sonic game in concept. It just needs that extra 10% in all areas to be truly incredible. Updated models, better animation, a grander story, more in-depth combat, physics based platforming, original levels, stylized art direction, and just general polish. And I'm 100% betting that we're gonna get that with this next game. Kishimoto and Sonic Team are in the kitchen, bro. All we need to do is wait.

They need to get rid of the physics customisation. You cannot design complex levels if you have to account for an entire spectrum of physics settings. I heard some people genuinely could not beat the tower sections in the DLC because their preferred settings didn't allow them to. Make ONE set of physics that is fun to play with and master. You know, like Adventure 1 & 2, or every other decent 3D platformer?

If they wanna implement stuff like dmc style switching, they could have a "wind" style and "electric" style since sonic uses both elements a lot, which would make combat even more expansive

I definitely agree with finding a compromise between having the boost and momentum-based physics in the open-zone and traditional stages. Your idea of changing the boost to be more in line with Unleashed Wii is actually sick. It would make it, so the boost is something that isn't a go faster button, rather another traversal option that you can learn to use effectively since you have limited uses of it. Just imagine the cool stuff you could do with the limited boost and spindash together or even using it in combos.

What I want to see in Frontiers 2 (The next open zone Sonic game): -A more refined and revamped combat system with a style system similar to DMC. -Remove the homing attack delay and don't force us to level up Sonic's speed, let us level up his boost instead (assuming he keeps that in the next game.) Make the boost more reserved, have it refill on rings and have it only be used in situational circumstances. Level up system should be similar to Unleashed, only it levels up everything all at once. The more XP you gain the more your stats go up, food also will give you XP. -Have a bigger focus on slope and momentum physics. (Final Horizon did this but I want them to go all out with it in the sequel) -Should be able to earn speed by gradually running instead of just boosting. Boosting shouldn't be mandatory for going fast. -Make the worlds feel alive, give us POIs, NPCs, shops, more mini games, ect. Make the platforming more natural and be integrated into the world itself. Give us loops, corkscrews, hills, slopes, the typical Sonic flare we all know and love. -Eggman bases, similar to the shrines in Breath of the Wild. These can range from battle gauntlets, mini-bosses, to obstacle courses. You'll get a reward for completing it, maybe an Eggman themed cosmetic or Egg Memo. -If they do bring back the cyberspace stages, they should be renamed to action stages like Sonic Adventure, maybe you can access them through a ring portal. The level should be themed around that specific world/POI. They physics need to me more like the open zone and the level design should be fully 3D. Maybe add some more missions objectives. -What I mean by POIs I mean something similar to Fortnite and various other open world games. Give us different places to explore within the open zone but have them fit the natural theme. Like for an example, let's say there's a beach open zone. Maybe we have a town, a water park, or underwater section, cave areas and those could have their own levels, a lighthouse maybe. Give me stuff like that, I don't want just a generic city or generic beach or jungle, give me locations within these areas I actually would want to explore. -Give us cosmetics, no more of this IHOP, Kroger's DLC pancoin bull shit but actual in-game skins that you can buy via shops in the game. Maybe certain shops have certain costumes that fit the theming of that specific world kinda like what Mario Odyssey. I don't mind them adding DLC, but it should be just DLC. There should be no extra steps to require said DLC. -A solid online multiplayer mode, something akin to Sonic Adventure 2 Battle where you have certain modes like a race mode and a battle mode. Maybe have multiplayer exclusive characters, give us some level themes from the game itself but also some unique multiplayer exclusive themes. Race mode should be similar to Rollin Rascal, Battle mode could be like a 3D version of Sonic Battle. Maybe have the multiplayer lobby be Resistance HQ. -Just a thought, but maybe also give us the ability to create our own custom character. One of the best things about Forces was the character creator so they should expand upon that, give us more species options and just options in general some height, weight, and bust sliders. These could be an anthro or robot depending on what you choose. -A Chao Garden with customizable and online features, I would say just make it an island but I feel like that would be too big. So maybe just give us the biggest Chao Garden possible and allow us to customize and decorate it to our heart's content. Be able to share it online and even visit other people's gardens. Online Chao races and Chao battles and way more Chao types and evolutions than ever before. -Have Super Sonic and Co. playable in the open zone, I was considering giving the super forms their own skill tree similar to Spider-Man 2 with the symbiote but it seemed a bit much. -New Game + with stronger enemies and bosses, since New Game + gives you all your abilities right off the bat, why not collect Super Emeralds and unlock Hyper Sonic as the new game + unlockable? How cool would that be? I know some if not all of these seem a little far-fetched or unrealistic but they are just some ideas I came up with. Side note: Better animations and cutscenes, stylistic visuals, and finally bring back the item boxes, give us the elemental shields back along with new ones.

Given the movies recently and how long its been since they have been in a game. I wouldn't mind of their are some Human characters again in Sonic games even if they are just an NPC. Maybe some of the game revolves around restoring G.U.N since Eggman destroyed them during Sonic Forces Given that Human purple haired girl from Tails Tube that people talked about for a bit, It would be interesting to see Sonic games use Humans again.

- They need boss drops and items and cosmetics and a proper level system - Mini games like Fishing and Skatebording and a Chao Garden - They need cool and expressive models like the one they used in dream team - Unique Combat System and every character has some kind of a ultimate attack - When choosing to help a town raided by egg forcers make the combat like a warriors game (kinda like hyrule warriors) - Bring Back Crush 40 and Kellin Quinn! - Give all the characters more personality development like Tails in the adventure games - Bring back the Boost Clashing like with Sonic and Blaze in Sonic Rush - Add Beaches, City's Mountains, Deserts, Towns, and to travel to a far location you got to use Tails's Tornado to fly - Expand on Lore! - Have mini bosses like a Encounter with the Hooligans or the Deadly Six! - Bring back Chaos Emerald Abilities - Bring back the Avatar character and choose to make him a combat or wispon fighter - Bring back humans! They don't have to be in Green Hill or anywhere let them live at any of the Unleashed locations or Station Square or have the archaeologist in Sonic Adventure be at places like the mountains or caves - Bring back Starfall Island, Northstar Island, West Side Island, South Island, Angel Island, ETC - Add Vanilla's House where you give her food items and dishes so that she makes food that boosts your're stats (like in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot) - Add Tails's Workshop where you upgrade your items and upgrade the Tornado - Add resting Spots where you take off any status effects you took (like slower speed or weaker attacks) - Add Car Racing or Hoverboard Races where you have rival fights with the Babylon rouges or even just simple Foot Racing like in Sonic R - Add a better Day and Night Feature where bosses come out (shops are closed at night) - Add the animals from sonic adventure to give more life to the games (even Flicky's and the other small creatures are ok!) - Add air Bosses thar you have to take down - Add customizable options like gaia's braclet or sonic can be able to wear different clothes and shoes like the soap shoes or his riders shoes And much much more but it will take me ages to write it all down (I hope fadel reads this!)

Well they did say they wanted to continue the open zone stuff. Wasn’t sure if they were gonna make a full sequel to frontiers. As long as it’s a improvement for the previous one and fixes the issues frontiers has, hype. Hopefully some CGI cutscenes for the actual game. 💙

I already expected that we would have a sequel but I didn't expect to have this news so soon even though the rhythm of their work is based on "make a game, release the game, plan the next game" I liked all the ideas to the point that before this leak I was already making a spreadsheet designing a sequence with the greatest possible mechanical and technical balance to suggest Kishimoto (I know he may not see all the suggestions as useful but it's worth a try) and as there are many topics it is not something that can be covered in more depth in a few minutes but I liked the idea of the transition like in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and the environments, I want to do parkour at will and use whatever is at my disposal disposition so much so that I believe the coexistence of Momentum and Boost is possible and even able to fit Advance's Boost mode as a reward when using Momentum, put Boost on for long traverses in flat regions or irregular changes (like walls) and Momentum is for making big jumps on ramps, etc, the option of having a small glide when launching too high would be cool, the combat could be more refined and mix the systems from Frontiers and Unleashed and maybe even have a style system like in Yakuza to allow for more combos and commands like having a "Speed style" and use skills like Time Stop, Sonic Wind and etc. or a "Grappler style" and use Boom's Enerbeam etc., just adjusting the inputs so that one skill doesn't overlap the other will be good in addition to more diverse skills , the boss fights could have an even more epic vibe and even have a cinematic presentation like in the Yakuza games, in addition to the whole game having a more Shounen and exciting vibe, in addition to the models being more detailed and expressive Just like we usually see all of this in incredible fangames and fan work, it's still too early to define what's to come but I hope that Sonic Team receives the necessary budget and time to make the game, even if they have to postpone the launch There will be no problem, if the result is the best and most complete possible then it will be worth it

I think since the gang is split up at the end of Frontiers, i think it would be cool if the islands were out of order for each campaign. For example lets say Sonic's first zone is a city zone while the second one he goes to a factory. Then switch to Knuckles and his campaign starts off at the factory before Sonic showed up and he goes to a different island. You can even have some playable character's run into each other when they venture into a new open zone as their paths merge for the island before they go their separate ways. Could be cool too if the island changes a bit depending on the character whose there

The majority of what I want has been spoken about, but the interactions between the characters are a bit underrated. In the DLC, most of the conversations are useless, but in a sequel, you could do so much more. With a more expansive cast, you could have characters interact with other characters they rarely interact with. Shadow with Cream, for example. There's so much potential to have interesting conversations with so many characters. And also stuff like the Eggman Memos is cool, and I would want another lore collectible like it in the new game.

Honestly, I know everyone says it, but a Chao Garden would work really well in the open world. Like you beat enemies and get materials and then those materials can be given to your Chao, then maybe even that Chao can help you in game? Like maybe it helps fight enemies for you, or finds treasure for you, or heals you during battle? Just a thought

I really want the animation to be wayyy better than Frontiers. The animation in Frontiers was good enough, but it needs to be much much better in the sequel. Also, while I love Kellin Quinn's voice, I think it would be so awesome if we got surprised with another singer, like Corey Taylor from Slipknot on a Sonic song would be so fucking crazy LMAO, but generally I just want the sequel to be on the level of games nowadays cos for far far too long it feels like Sonic has been lagging behind its competitors and it should've caught up years ago

I hope that the story can continue on from Frontiers, but without the Ancients and The End. Like, have Eggman and Sage use the Ancients technology to make new powerful robots, and have Eggman create his own Titan-like robots. With how strong the Titans were in Frontiers, having Eggman create his own would actually mean there are stakes to the story, cuz the whole cast would get their asses kicked if they fought the Titans without the Emeralds. They could even bring in the IDW characters for this game. After all, they are all part of the restoration after the War in Forces, so now that Eggman is back with these Titan robots, they could play a role in the story. I don’t think we need another new Super Sonic form though. Cuz let’s be honest, I don’t think any robot Eggman creates will be as powerful as The End.

I hope that the next game is able to be finished on time as for as much as I loved The Final Horrizon DLC, I feel for a lot of casual players, especially critics were left slightly disappointed by the original ending. While the ending of the dlc was unbelievably hype, unfortunately, I feel like only the fans really stuck around to experience it.

This could quite possibly be one of the biggest games of the decade, definitely of Sonic's discography. They got SOOOOO much right with Frontiers 1, and now that they know what the sauce is, they have room for expansion and refining. And more characters in a game like this is only what we could dream of. It'll be smart to capitalize off the Shadow hype once Sonic Movie 3 is out & about, plus all the other characters who no doubt have VERY REALIZABLE abilities for a game like this. Whatever happens, I'm excited.

This is gonna be peak and I feel they would bring back the Main 4 and Shadow as the playable characters at the start since they have the assets from Frontiers and Shadow Gens. and can give them new and improved movesets (Ex: more hammer attacks for Amy). Also, I think a cool title for the next game could be called "Sonic Lycoris" IMO.

While it's great to see the next game 3-4 years later, I wouldn't mind to also wait about 5-6 years for the next game if the outcome will be greater than we would expect. Also a more BotW/TotK approach would be interesting where you instead of beating four titans/temples, you have 7 main objectives, each one rewarding your with a chaos emerald.

if sega does allow multiple playable characters in frontiers 2, I hope they use characters who haven’t been seen/playable in a while or have never been playable before. for example imagine a campaign with sonic, silver, blaze, and espio. im sure the writers could get them in somehow. plus with ian flynn now on the writing team im sure tangle and whisper and other characters from IDW could make it in somehow (granted only if sega allows it to happen and if they wanna keep comic and game canon/events separate) hell, I’d love frontiers 2 to maybe even be an adaptation of the comics!

Oh yeah, I just remembered another idea I have for future Open Zone Sonic games: I would legitimately love to see the Wisps come back again, both as a means of expanding on the world exploration (they can work similarly to the Champion Abilities in Breath of the Wild and have cooldowns after using them, i.e. Rocket working similarly to Revali's Gale by giving you a huge burst of verticality as an alternate means of getting to some high platforms or something) and new Skills for combat, like the Wispon idea from Forces done right (Laser letting you multihit an enemy or ricochet off multiple enemies in a group, for example).

I'm honestly not expecting much from a Sonic Frontiers 2. I just want a very good refined and reformed version of what came before (think SA1 --> SA2). It would be so cool to see the philosophies of Frontiers expanded upon rather than majorly changed. Just give us a better version of what came before. Innovation, especially for a team like Sonic Team, takes time. I would just rather let them cook and see what happens. Now, that's not to say I don't WANT super cool and different stuff from this sequel, but I'm just not expecting it. That's not a disrespect towards Sonic Team or anything, I actually trust them very much with this sequel (and SXSG). I just like keeping my expectations low and being patient, while being hype and ready for whatever's next! :)) EDIT: Also, please bring back Ohtani, Tokoi, Eguchi, and the other peak composers of Frontiers 1 🥺🥺

My main wishes for the next Open Zone game: - New aesthetics for the Action Stages (or at least, if they HAVE to reuse assets for the sake of easier development, make it from stages other than just Green Hill or Chemical Plant) - Double down on the level designs from the original Cyber Space stages from the base game AND The Final Horizon (maybe lean a BIT more to the former so it doesn't all just become "Spin Dash over several large chunks of the stage" for all of them, provided the Spin Dash is busted in terms of movement again in the next game) - Platforming assets/obstacles being more naturally integrated into the Open Zone environments - Double down on Open Zone challenges that take advantage of Sonic's tool kit in fun/creative ways: all the Time Trial stuff, the skydiving stuff, Homing Attacking the balls through the hoops, etc... - Doubling down on the difficulty selection affecting platforming assets (like how Easy Mode added extra balloons and springs to make it more automated, you can have harder difficulties have LESS automation tools to let the platforming be more in the hands of the player's skill of controlling the characters) - I think the foundation for the combat in Frontiers is fine/fun enough, but the Skills should have more variation in their utility in combat (i.e. each skill serves an ulterior purpose other than just big damage, like one that can break an enemy's defense for example) and there should be more that can hit multiple small enemies - Long range attacks like Sonic Boom or Cross Slash (and especially Tails's Cyclone cannon) should be meter-based or have cooldowns for using them, to make them less spammable - Keep the Parrying like it is in The Final Horizon post-patch, but actually design all parryable enemy attacks around said Parrying window(s) - One aspect of Frontiers that I adore that doesn't get mentioned enough is the gameplay design of some of the enemies and ESPECIALLY for all the Guardian minibosses: almost all of them are designed around movement in some way. It's not just about laying massive damage on them, but HOW you can reach their weak point to start laying said damage on them in the first place: running up Asura's legs, grinding on the rails of Strider or Caterpillar, skydiving with Spider, all the platforming with Ghost, etc... So I'd REALLY like them to double down on this design approach to minibosses (and even major bosses), because it's the most brilliant approach to boss design in a Sonic game yet IMHO. - Make Knuckles able to climb ALL walls again, but make it have a stamina meter like BotW or TotK: you can have a new collectible for Knuckles to find to increase said stamina (to where, if you're max level, you can basically climb half the height of a mountain); it would add more incentive/reward for players to explore the Open Zones - Bring back Knuckles's ability to dig, both as a means of exploration AND combat skill(s) - Remove Tails's height cap for flying, but have ascending make him quicker to tire out like in previous games (you could even make increasing his duration to fly an upgradable stat like Knuckles's wall climbing, as mentioned before) - This one is less for the next game specifically, but just ANY future Sonic game, but considering how AMAZING she was at her performances for the Sonic Symphony, I would KILL to have Casey Lee Williams head the vocal tracks for a Sonic game

I’d say my hopes and wishes are: - Cyberspace with new zones and no reused level designs or level aesthetics - Maybe Keep the Boost for the Cyberspace levels but maybe have to so u get your boost by building up momentum - Keep Ian Flynn as writer - Of course Multiple playable characters (Tails, Knuckles, Amy) Maybe Shadow, Rouge, Omega characters like that - More In depth combat (Be punished for spamming moves, and have S Ranks for how stylish moves are chained together and that) - Keep Spindash but have the game actually be designed around it - Instead of different open zones, how about one gigantic map that has a variety of places to explore and secrets to uncover - New Model/animations for Sonic - Unreal Engine 5 (Hopefully since if that Heroes Remake is still potentially happening I hope they use and a bigger and more powerful engine) - NPCS spread across the map And last but not least Polish for sure. Frontiers didn’t have polish and the sequel needs to be a quality experience that improves upon the groundworks of Frontiers 1 Also real last suggestion bring Kellin Quinn back for Final Boss And have rival fights akin to the Titan fights

For Frontiers 2, I hope they have grounded obstacles for open zone like have Sonic swing around vines, run through water, snowboard/surf, interact with npcs n animals, and maybe have the danger weather climate be a fun obstacle for Sonic to run through like gaining speed/air from a tornado. For other characters like Tails, Amy, n Knuxs, first up they need more combos. Sonic Team definitely rushed the gang's combat and made them useless against the other guardians. And their solve for making sure each character can fair up against the guardians by nerfing the enemies is stupid. The solve they could have done is give more movesets for Tails, Knuxs, n Amy so that they can have a fair match against the hard enemies. Have Tails uses a gadget gun n tails for more powerful range attacks instead of just throw wrenches. Like Ratchet n Clank but Tails form. Amy, I don't hate the cards but she needs her hammer back for combat so Sonic Team plzzz do that. For Knuxs, go ham with his Knuckles punches n this time uitilze his dig for combos too. Hopefully they do it for Frontiers 2 so that players can have dark souls enemies but actually have characters that can fair up against them like Sonic. For environment, I definitely would like Tails to use his gadgets for some small puzzle solving and fly up on a floating island or something with his mech or plane. Amy can use her hammer for momentum speed n spam down anything to unlock secret pathways. And also fine, maybe utilize the cards too like idk, have the cards give Amy spirit vision so that she can free hidden treasure or something. And finally Knuxs, they better fix the gliding cuz im gonna be tight if we get that god awful gliding from base U3. As for free climbing, I do really want that but if Sega/Sonic Team have to make sections for Knuxs to only climb through so players won't cheese the game easily, then im fine with it. Still wish there was a solution but if not, then fine I get. Also I wouldn't mind some treasure hunting moments (Especially for side quest). Lastly cosmetics, plzzz Sonic Team go all out by bringing in old fits n new one for the whole cast. Plus while not really needed, i also would like upgraded gears for the cast too just like Adventure 2. Have Sonic get upgraded shoes like Sonic X/Prime, Amy gets elemental hammers, Tails gets more powerful gadgets guns, and Knuxs gets upgraded gloves. And folks are free to change each gear look, but the abilities are locked mostly cuz I kinda want each new gear to feel unique n special. Anyways I doubt Sonic Team will do everything i listed but if they could do at least half, then i call it a win in my book 👍

Only thing we got is Monster Hunter, which cool but come on where my Mega Man skin at Sega :/. With how Sega keep making crossover with other media for Sonic, Sonic Frontiers 2 should bring in more theme costumes like Jet Set Radio, Angry Birds, Mega Man, etc for the future.

Frontiers brought back my excitement for Sonic video games. However, that doesn’t mean I have regained my full confidence about Sonic games. When this sequel comes out and what I hope happens, I hope they change the combat and controls. Also, I would love to see Kellin Quinn back to write songs for the game. And I hope the sequel introduces extra Islands. AND I WANT SHADOW PLAYABLE!!!

What I like is that Eggman could actually build really strong robots. He had access to a lot of information from cyberspace and I feel like he should be able to create a few robots on the scale of the minibosses from Frontiers (unless he uses chaos emeralds). Heck, they could even make Eggman playable at some point. He had some impact in Frontiers but he was pretty much stuck in cyberspace for most of the game. I want to see him do more stuff like in SA2.

Where it's two-players and you both reach the finishing goal, but this time you both have to reach the goal! So you have to help each other out in certain platforming areas, kinda like in 06's multiplayer.

hmmm...I'd 100% be down for would be customizable movesets like say instead of a stomp, you can have the bounce from sa2 or maybe instead of a wallrun, you can change it to something similar to the triangle jump from heroes, specific moves for characters so like Amy gets the hammer jump from sa1 or the advance games, knuckles can dig into the ground and like traverse around the area and find some items, tails can have the spin attack, light speed attack for sonic that can attack multiple enemies at once, etc. hell, I'd love the upgrades from SA1 and SA2. for the esthetic, there NEEDS to be a city based "island" whether it's like an active metropolis or it's abandoned. I genuinely feel like either could be nice considering the latter has been shown to work esthetically in the OVA. listen....the fact that we are (probably) getting a sequel to frontiers, there is so much they can and SHOULD do to not only surpass Frontiers but become one of the most top tier, polished, fun, replayable, and flatout best 3D Sonic game. THERE IS STILL so much ideas I have for what they should do!!!

When I saw the announcement trailer I thought wow that's really cool can't wait to see how that one goes. When I saw the other trailers I'm like nah get me this game now! This is the first time I have bought any game on launch and I had a blast. Played it through about 5 or 6 times completed the main game 100% once (in the first version) and 100%ed final horizon. If they're making a sequel consider me sold! I will be surprised if this will be that much better than the first game bc there's no way it can be worse the way things are goin!

VERY NICE. I am now finally starting an Extreme playthrough (in Ares now) and plan playing Final Horizon for the first time, but, I want 7 things on Sonic Frontiers sequel. 1. LET SONIC TEAM COOK. SEGA should give all the time and money they need to. NO RUSHING EVER AGAIN. 2. A better lock-on system for multi enemies. Something that really annoys me about fighting multiple enemies is how sometimes it automatically changes target and it ruin my combos, specially if it's the normal robots one that rise defense. 3. Improved Quick Cycle. Seriously, at the very least make it so I don't need to refill everything or drain all the meter. Like, I realized how important is Quick Cycle and only using it up to two times per bar is too low. Just let me either use it any time, or make it less limited and restricted. Or just make a different Defense Break. 4. Ways to fight and interact with the enviroment at the same time. There are videos that show this but I feel it can be even better. Things like using a spring or even wall jumping to continue or extend a combo. 5. Bigger skill tree and a gameplay control that can have a lot of potential. Of course with an automatic mode but I want a proper way to play it like DMC or Bayonetta. 6. The rest of characters that deserves to have their own segment to be played, if possible, with their own Super version (including Super Sonic himself) 7. In general, make a game like they need to do. Without a care of "professional" sites and critics and do what they are supposed to do.

What I want from Frontiers 2 is more fun/cool moments or character interactions. I’m mainly thinking of moments in SA2 like Prison Island blowing up or Sonic and Shadow’s banter or Sonic and Tails breaking into the president’s limo. I think Frontiers was too melodramatic, and the sequel should tone it back just a little.

What if Sage returns, or like maybe new open worlds like towns or cities, or like new minigames? Oh yeah we could have like multiplayer like 2 players (Sonic, Tails or Sonic, Amy) (I don't like Knuckles sorry), or like maybe new bosses again? I just hope this could be better, we have so many ideas to choose! Oh yeah, fucking fandom users lashing out on the game saying like "oh we should not have new direction" or like "go back to 20 years the way they were", why wouldn't the Fandom fanbases leave us alone...

I love the ideas shown in this video! I’m not sure if Tails/Knuckles/Amy will be in it much because they all said they’d be doing their own thing? I have no idea what to expect for the next game, tbh. If they are integral to the plot, I’d like to see their characters being more interesting. (Mainly talking about Amy lol I am probably the minority who thinks they need to completely revamp her from what she is now.) It might be cool if they all went on separate adventures, but ended up having their adventures intertwine somehow by coincidence idk LMFAO Edit: Okay, final thought even though nobody cares-am I the only one who kind of doesn’t want the IDW comics to come up that much in the main series? I think SEGA is trying to incorporate too many characters from outside media at once.

this is more so personal preference but a big gripe i had with frontiers was how far out the camera is during gameplay. particularly during cyberspace stages, the camera being so far away makes you feel small and doesn't convey speed nearly as effectively, hence why you feel slow a lot of the time. if they go for a more unleashed/generations styled presentation with the camera being closer to create more of a sense of scale and speed, i'd be very fucking happy lmao

I've always wanted to boost to be pressure sensitive (i.e. the further you hold down the trigger, the faster you boost) but that's probably never gonna happen since the switch doesn't have analogue triggers 😥

Sorta like how the Spiderman games did costumes and their deep cuts Like give us the Riders fits, the Murder of Sonic fits, the Dreamcast models (sorta like the Odyssey 64 model), the Adventure 2 battle mode/DLC costumes, let us dress up like the alt versions of characters in Prime, the Black Knight/Secret Rings fits, even the mobile games alone have so many costumes to choose from, give us some deep cuts like Odyssey and Spiderman do

My Number #1 want is more Parkour for Sonic, or level design that makes Sonic and pals Ability to react to the environment less scripted feeling like those old levels, like some random half ramps to get air time or travel. Sliding down walls like Black Knight, Proper Wall Running/Rolling, Thing that work like the old Jump Panels in UNleashed/SA1, Triangle Jumping from Heroes. Some Koko Challenges give me hope cuz they did have a few of those, but i need it ALL OVER. Even random world events like a rock slide that Sonic can maneuver in and escape.

short answer: More overall polish, better performance, no more pop in, better enviromental design, more sonic-like locations (the stuff you'd see in older 3d games like sa1 and 2, heroes, unleashed, colours, etc), different set of characters alongside sonic instead of tails, knux and amy again Long answer: - Overall just more polish, this is probably going to be made with the switch 2 as a base so more potato hardware. No more pop in, have the game run at 1080p 60fps, and the ps4 is still getting third party support so theres no need to try and go over the top with ps5 tier graphics, the ps4 still has some great looking games like FF7 remake, Ghosts of Tsushima, Elden Ring, Ratchet 2016 so hopefully all versions dont suffer from major graphical issues. Also have better collision detection, multiple times while playing frontiers i'd go flying off the ground and be sent into the air trick state even tho all i did was just run on ground normally. There should also be better cyberspace controls - Have better level design and enviromental design. Have the open zone areas look more stylish/sonic-like, something like we've seen in the older modern games (sa1 and 2, heroes, rush, advance, unleashed, etc), the whole point of the starfall islands was to be something outside of the character's coomfort zone, now i think we can go back to something they're more used to. - Also make sure the platforming fits in naturally with the open zone areas and make sure they suit the aesthetic its going for. A big complaint ppl had with the islands in frontiers was that there were random platforms and rails all over the place but this has always been the a thing in 3d sonic games. Its just they were designed with the enviroments aesthetic in mind (e.g the blue futuristic paths in grand metropolis, the rusty and metalic looking rails in grand canyon, the rails and platforms in rinal rush). - I'd also like to see a different set of characters alongside sonic this time instead of tails, knuckles and amy again. They've had both frontiers and superstars now, meanwhile other charactsrs line silver, blaze, the chaotix and omega haven't had the spotlight in years. Also Tails, Knuckles and Amy are all doing their own thing after the end of Frontiers.

I really hope the story is more linear and has more progression in frontiers it feels more like, oh yeah that happened, in this sequel even with open zone have a more action based story and have a story with interesting events like unleashed and adventure, the problem with open zone is that the story is restricted to one place for ages so you can’t travel around and have “things” happen. Although a problem with frontiers is the islands especially Kronos are tiny 17:56 ooh this, I hope they can make tails carry sonic, and also do the little charge spin midair thing where tails launches sonic like in mania adventures, that would be cool

for frontiers 2, i really want a city hub/full zone. and have eggman fully controlling it. most sonic fights are to stop eggman before he does something. i want him to have already done something this time. even in the hub world. dangers around every corner. surveillance. steallllllth in a sonic game perhaps even? like sly cooper? idk how he'd do it. maybe sonic and friends go on a huge vacation out of communication range (opportunity to bring back tail's sonicx space ship, perhaps using that as a safe zone hub in orbit and you get an area select screen like pikmin. or maybe eggman just finds some way to neutralize all their powers all at once and they have to go on quests and optional side missions to regain their powers and even improve them by stealing them back from various factories using the powers to build more bots. knocking out all of one type of factory removes that type of bot from the world or weakens their weapon systems in all respawned versions thereafter. take over strategic high points around the city like tallest skyscraper, water tower, air traffic control tower, etc, to shut down surveillance in that area and add that sector to your map, pretty much like the ubisoft games do. perhaps some target areas of suppressed population that need to be liberated by destroying eggman infrastructure like scrap depots where bots take the citizen's metal objects like cars, jewelry, etc to turn into metal for robot factories, fuel tanks, energy/power banks, propaganda speakers, etc. basically like the just cause games. and also put in some infinite repeating quests for extra reward farming like uhhh, shutting down a supply line of egg trucks delivering stuff to factories, shut down a bot that's harrassing a citizen, help a citizen escape from the city, steal a robot weapon, armor, vehicle cache to give to GUN reformation rebel groups (driving and shooting stuff for shadow again). and etc. maybe the rivals part of this whole thing is that shadow is trying to reform GUN because he thinks their big boy toys are serious, the soldiers well trained and organized, etc, and don't play around like sonic and friends. whereas sonic is trying to help the reformation hq rebuild, thinking that shadow's seriousness can admittedly win the battle, friendship wins a war and ensures peace continues afterwards. both also want to beat each other to eggman cuz one wants to kill and the other just wants to stop him as usual. it's so perfect. sega hire me plz QwQ

I also want to see the humans make they're return in the next mainline Sonic games for Sonic and the others characters to talk to and do challenges just like in Sonic Unleashed. I find the franchise weird with Eggman being the only human. I definitely want Sage in there too. Sonic Frontiers went full anime. It had badass super sonic fights and hard metal rock music too.

Actually, I totally agree on the idea that more characters should not necessarily be playable, but offer side quests. Help the Chaotix solve cases, or help Cream find Cheese, for example.

For post game content there’s a lot they could do. They could easily have some more fan service stuff as bosses, the titans from Frontiers with the (hopefully) improved combat. IDW enemies, Surge being an obvious one. Or even just old egg man boss fights reimagined. All in all, no matter what they do I hope they have the time to polish it as needed. Looking forward to seeing what they’ll have to show us in the future. Sonic X Shadow Generations will probably being a good hint of what’s to come

I was not the biggest fan of Frontier I must admit but I saw the potential in that game... So If Sega try to make a sequel and take feedback of the players in consideration, it could verily be one of the best Sonic game of all time.

Not to be that guy, but we were obviously getting a follow up to frontiers as confirmed by Kishimoto and Izuka so I was confused as to why this was news. The more interesting information is whether it’ll be a follow up in terms of narrative as well or just a continuation of the gameplay style.

Ok, so, my predictions are: 1. Sonic will fully master the cyber energy, managing to use it however he likes and transform into Cyber Super Sonic without any drawbacks. 2. The main villain will be The End in its true form. 3. We will only see Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Sage, Eggman and Sonic, just like in Frontiers, as the main protagonists / allies. 4. The others (Aka every protagonist but Sonic) will get more attention on action and gameplay instead of their lore, feelings, emotions, story, retribution, yada yada yada. Hopes: 1. My best boy Metal Sonic will be in this too. It's kinda weird that every classic character but Metal appeared in Frontiers to me. 2. A potential foreshadowing for the Hyper form coming back (I think it's best if we keep the attention on the cyber energy instead on making the Hyper form come back in this sequel to Frontiers).

One big hope i have for a Frontiers sequel, is that it rids of the boost aspects all together. Having a boost button (that effectively feels more like a run button), was kind of distracting. You also have to remember that the Boost was made for linear levels (Unleashed, Gens, etc) but those levels are more of an after thought in Frontiers, but boosting is the main thing you'll be doing throughout the game. I'd also say that having all the sliders shows a lack of confidence of what Sonic should control like. I think the main thing it would need is a heavily fine tuned physics engine with a world that properly compliment it.

SONIC FRONTIERS 2 I have an idea involving the chaos emeralds, more biomes and raw boss fights. What about 7 biomes or 7 islands, each one representing a chaos emerald element, hence a boss deity protecting that biome, thus the emerald too. For example, the green emerald should represent the nature, what about a forest biome with the green emerald to be find. The white emerald should represent the ice/snow biome and so on. These biomes will be connected to a city/urban island as the central hub (similar to Sonic Adventure), so we should access to those as game progress. Each biome will have it's own natural culture, characteristics, npc's activities, etc (think about Sonic Unleashed but bigger). The main bosses will be magical and powerful entities in a similar fashion FFXVI eikon fights (just this time using base Sonic). As a returning entity emerges to stand as the ruler of them all. GAME CONTENT -7 biomes, 7 chaos emeralds, 7 emerald protector deities (bosses). -At least 5 playable characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow) -Original levels, not reused. I prefer the design aesthetics from Frontiers, like the cave on Ouranos, for the level design -4 to 5 stages per biomes for the characters (think about a mix of adventure, unleashed and frontiers) so can the characters have their own stage. -Open world, map access, sidequests and other activities should be in similar way of FF7 Rebirth, like finding area of interest of that biome, intel, lore data files and so on. -More metalcore/symphonic music for the boss fights. Stages will have their own original track too.

In terms of the bosses, I've got the similarity from FFXVI because when i was fighting with Titan, i did imagine Sonic like running through those big tentacles and so. Or the fight with Garuda, cause she's wind/nature. Just look up Perfect Chaos boss fight in Generations, thats is something that i want. Heck, even the Titans in Frontiers (just we're using Super this time). So Sonic can still fighting those deities withouth relying too much on Super until the last showdown. That's was the mixing the dark hardcore fantasy of XVI with how Sonic can battle similar creatures and involving those very elements from the emeralds. Also, for the art style, i wish for a more Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart visuals and art design. There's some heavy rails sections while we're using Rivet, that could be use to a Sonic game. The background action in one of the stages is top. And, if Sonic Team could implement a fast-travel access thought the biomes dimensions, in similar fashion to Rift Apart, using the PS5 SSD, it could be one of the most exquisite Sonic games in the last of this generation of consoles.

I JUST started a replay of Sonic frontiers this past weekend and now I’m hearing this. Guess I’ll be using this play through as a training arc for the sequel 😂

Hear me out for a final battle: Bring Back Sage and have her be a key character. She become corrupted by the new enemy and slowly over the story she begins to betray Eggman (by becoming more aggressive, slowly having robots being sent after him) and by the end she merges with this being. A cyber corruption fills the area where (ill explain in the minute) Super Sonic and Super Shadow are. It corrupts only sonic, as his body is used to the power and transforms him into super Sonic 2. However Shadow isnt used to it but instead of becoming corrupt, he takes off his inhibitors, and all of that plus alongside eggman, they go into the final fight. I think it would be fun to have a story based around just Sonic and Shadow. Usually its "they see, they fight, they leave" but i think a team up story could really work. Maybe the cyber corruption is due to super sonic and the emeralds taking jn the evil energy from frontiers, having a set of corrupt emeralds which they need to find and fix. And for the final battle you can Alternate between Super Sonic 2, FP Super Shadow, and Eggman in a mech of some sorts (maybe also powered by the emeralds?) And the only reason Eggman fights with them is to get Sage back (i think its a simple yet decent motive) If anyone thinks this is too out there or has any other ideas id love to hear it!!

I always suspected this will happen but of course I'm still excited frontiers beats heroes at my all-time favorite Sonic game ever knocking down so many walls it deserves a sequel, I hope we get more characters like blaze and silver, super sonic 2 making a comeback and of course all the crazy combos and skill trees that made this game so beautiful just take everything this game did and make it even better

I want the next game to have one giant world with different sections, no 2D, playable Sonic, Silver, and Blaze. Kellin Quinn and Crush 40, more Super Sonic fights, better animation, more energy in the story, and make Eggman eviler again. Oh, and no boost. Just the spindash.
