Classic:
Flame Shield- Shield enables midair dashes
Aqua Shield- Enables a bound jump to help get some air
Thunder Shield- Enables double-jumping
Twin Spin Attack- Allows you to attack in mid-jump
Invincible Start- Start the stage with temporary invincibility
Shield- A shield protects you from a single hit
Power Sneakers- Run faster, plain and simple
Long Spin Dash- Your Spin Dash will carry you further
Treasure Scanner- Allows you to see hidden items and springs
Homing Attack- Enables the use of Homing Attack
Hercules Muscles- Push objects faster
Breath Holder- Stay underwater longer
Boardmaster- Hop on a skateboard whenever you want
Ring time- Turn enemies into rings for a short time
Modern:
Blast Off- Press a button when "GO!" appears for a free boost
Speed Up- Increase Sonic's speed
Direct Jump- Increase the speed of your wall jumps
Power Stomp- Create a shockwave when stomping on ground
Quick Slide- Enables Quick Step when on a skateboard
Acceleration- Increases speed when starting to run
Smasher bonus- Breaking enemies etc. fills boost gauge
Ring energy bonus- Collecting Rings fills the gauge faster
Boost Gauge Up- Extend the length of you boost gauge
Serial Homing- Perform sequential homing attacks faster
Auto-Gauge- Boost Gauge fills automatically over time
Gauge Rebooter- Begin with a full boost gauge upon restart
Trick Mastery- Perform tricks faster
Endless Boost- Boost Gauge stays full but can't get Rings
Both:
Power Brake- Stop on a dime, regardless of your speed
sure-footed- Land on your feet after getting damaged
Saftey Net- Begin with 10 Rings after a restart
Last Chance- Get an extra life when you're out of lives
10-second Rings- Dropped Rings take 10 seconds to disappear
Athleticism- Lose less speed moving uphill and in water
Time Brake- Slows down time temporarily
Super Sonic- Collect 50 rings to become super sonic

another example of a really tough situation included: the new perfect chaos fight. the very last part of it with the platforming if you don't you get killed. if it wasn't that way and you could just run into them all and i wasn't working on being fast, i probably would've just run into springs.

@LALAKIStro Like I had said in comments before I honestly forgot where i got all the skills. But since thats a modern sonic skill get the red rings in modern sonic levels they are not that hard to find because you can talk to the character outside the stage and they will give you pretty easy hints as of to where they are.

yes by beating the final boss and viewing the credits a message should pop up that says super sonic can now be used in levels/acts (or something along those lines) Just equip it to your skill set, select the skill set with super sonic, get 50 rings then press Y (xbox) or triangle (ps3) to transform. And thats it. As a heads up though super sonic is under powered for reasons I can and will explain if you need so. btw last thing the skill takes up 100 points so it can't be combined.

@SkullBlackRose they understand that the Genesis era was short so every now and again they add homages to the stages that weren't included and even remixes. A total of 9 stages Genesis Sonic 1,2,3&Knuckles + Dreamcast era Sonic Adventure 1,2+Sonic Heroes +Modern Era Sonic06 Unleashed and Colors. There were alot of games classic and modern sonic that were left out. Also the 3DS version has online multiplayer battles

@Smashfan33 same here with me, though i like modern sonic the best.the homing attack makes thing a lot easier sometimes, like springs that are really hard to hit,destroying and avoiding enemies easier, goes faster so it seems more like he has super speed, which it should since he's a hedgehog with super speed. i mean he should be able to do platforming but still be uber fast.

no to get classic homing attack you just need the red rings for classic sonic at planet wisp. if you collect all five red rings in a stage for either modern or classic you will get a skill. Theres one for every stage.

@stickanimationcgp Honestly I rushed through the game I don't remember where I got each of the skills just collect red rings and do challenges. Usually it will tell you at the end of a challenge description.

I believe its due to the limitations of the Wii. However they could have just downgraded it like sonic unleashed. If you compare ps3/xbox to the Wii version you will see how much different they are. Although, it could be the fact that the Wii got Sonic colors and no other system did. idk what to tell ya though it is weird, but hey at least they have a 3ds version for all those big Nintendo fans out there.

@RedOutlive10 I agree with the partly ruined, however the 3d sonic games actually need it. They kinda decided to add it due to how sonic 3d turned out. Although with the 3d there are more shortcut opportunities that the classics could not have. I'm not saying classic has none because they do but honestly the shortcuts consist of what path you can actually do faster, top, middle, low etc. I like both modern and classic gameplay however which is why generations is great.

@shebenlee When you do the challenges you unlock songs and art. There isn't a spesific one for a challenge. I just completed all challenges today and I got that song sometime after having half of the challenges completed. Hope this helped!

@RedOutlive10 i don't always home attack. some times it's faster to boost into a spring you know, like if you're trying to get a really quick time in seaside hill like i was. i hardly ever used homing attack on springs unless its a really tough situation

Indeed although super sonic may not be available on the 3ds its still pretty good honestly. I own both you know being a sonic fan and all, plus they had different zones/levels. I also don't understand why super sonic can't be used in levels on 3ds either. I mean it should work fine honestly being only 2d platforming and all but eh whatever.

Very true. Super Sonic is honestly not that amazing though on console. Classic super sonic actually loses speed XD. He gains only jump height and invincibility, I think I would just take other skills over it like homing attack or longer spin dash.
