While I would rather Adventure remakes, Heroes is definitely in need of a remake. That game's physics, graphics, and voice acting have not aged well. If the remake fixes that stuff, this may become a top 3 Sonic game for me.

Sonic Heroes *did* have a PC port release. Same for Sonic Riders. They were retail PC releases, though, box art and all. The kind where you have a disc? There are also some issues with them from a visual standpoint, and the ports are really old, just like Halo 2 Vista.

Redoing older Sonic games come with their own pros and cons. Reintroducing them to a newer generation with new additions and improvements is always a plus. However, it very easy to ruin the inherent spirit of the title by changing too much, not changing anything, new voices, etc. In the case of Heroes, they might try to change some things and get cold feet, resulting in another Origins or Ultimate. You can’t just rid of the multiple teams or rewrite the story to fit current day, otherwise you’ll get a lot of questions from new fans. This is one of the instances where I rather take a remaster than remake and cucking it all up for the sake of money. Even moreso if it’s Adventure, don’t expect it to be a dream fan remake.

Make sense they are remaking Heroes instead of the Adventure games. Heroes was the best selling Sonic game before Frontiers took that title, and it is a very safe game, because it is minimal in story and is structured like a Classic Sonic game: two + boss per zone.

This looks like a stepping stone for the remakes people actually want, don't get me wrong I love Heroes, but Sega has been very quiet when it comes to questions towards the adventure or even unleashed remake. Talking a whole ground up remake that is. If the heroes remake does well and sells enough they would likely speed up the process of the adventure remakes. Just a theory though.

There are a few sonic games I would love to see on Steam, sad to see unleased has never gotten a port while almost all other games got a port for pc.

Personally, I’m fine with Heroes getting the remake treatment. There’s no way Sega is touching SA 1 or SA 2 anytime soon regarding a remake or remaster- any small deviation from what fans have come to know and love, and Sega will get ripped a new one. I’m not a big fan of either SA1 or 2 (I honestly think Adventure 2 is overrated in terms of gameplay) but diehards would lose it if Sega screwed up that remake. I REALLY WANT Sonic Unleashed. But that would require a lot of resources, given how well Unleashed still holds up in the presentation department. Heroes makes the most sense because it’s the game that presents the lowest risk. If this remake gets messed up, it won’t be that bad… I love Heroes, but damn, it was rough in terms of gameplay. So I’m 100% okay with this, assuming it’s true.

i agree, sonic heroes does have problems, played it again on stream on my gaming account and it does not hold up like the adventure games do. that being said, it probably will benefit from being remade. to actually clean all the kinks. it was their first true 3rd party title for 3d sonic so they didn't know what to do. i also agree that they should do sa 1 and 2 before heroes since that would make sense story wise(i know heroes story is nothing compared to the adventure games)

I kinda disagree with the idea that "there's other ways to learn", sometimes you kinda need that very important consumer/fan feedback and I think testing the waters with Heroes will help a lot in eventually, possibly remaking SA1 and SA2, since a LOT more pressure will be on those than Heroes, if the Heroes Remake is bad they'll probably shy away from making other remakes, but they'll also save themselves from the hate of remake a beloved classic like Adventure, and us fans will at least not have to suffer through a bad Adventure remake, and if Heroes is good, or decent with some important things that could be improved upon, then maybe they can be used as lessons, gauging the reactions of the public, to then try and put everything they've learned, not just about how to technically use the engine, but how to optimize the experience in general for the reception to be more positive, to then take the plunge at a more widely beloved game

if they dont have the dreamcast/early 2000s voicecast then im playing with japanese audio, cuz roger and kirk thornton in heroes over ryan and david humphry just sounds off also hoping they make new models that stay close to how the heroes models looked, they were the closest we got to uekawa's artsyle in 3d, dont want the frontiers models to be re-used as those were a reuse of a re-use plus knuckles and amy kinda look ugly, if they wanna re-use then re-use the tokyo 2020 models those would fit better with heroes' artsyle also some expected improvements like smoother acceleration, better controls, better special stages, fixed rail switching, less jank, some level design reworked cuz some stages can go on for wayyy too long hopefully they put online multiplayer but im not expecting it

So that’s the weirdest part to me. But it is a good way to get us older fans interested, sonic is sonic so younger fans are generally a “given”. You're right, it won't be on the Switch. From what I saw from the SonicHub video, this Sonic Heroes Remake is set to release in 2026. The Nintendo Switch 2 will already be out by then. According to leaks, Switch 2 was shown to Gamescom, and it ran an Unreal Engine 5 tech demo. NOT AT 30FPS EITHER. 60FPS I THINK.

i dont think the pop in is a hedgehog engine problem as none of the boost games suffer from it, forces didnt have pop in on switch meanwhile frontiers did cuz they had to scale down the game to get the game running on it heroes is another linear game, plus it'll probably be on switch 2 instead of the og switch so no more potato hardware

TBH I think Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2 are more important than Sonic Heroes, alot of people said that Shadow the Hedgehog was the start of the Dark Age of Sonic, to me it was Sonic X and Sonic Heroes that started the Dark Age, also, I think Sonic Unleashed is more important than Sonic Heroes, I think Sonic Team should remaster Sonic Unleashed, add Episode Knuckles and call it Sonic Unleashed and Knuckles and have that game be the swan song for the Hedgehog Engine 2, and tie it in to Sonic Movie 4. Then remake Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2 using Unreal Engine 5 as a way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Sega Dreamcast, test the waters for Sonic Frontiers 2 and to tie in to Sonic Movie 5

Honestly more hyped for a remake of heroes as remakes of good games are playing it safe. Hell I'd take a remake of Shadow the Hedgehog or 06 because no way it could be worse than the original whereas remakes of SA1&2 are gonna be compared to the OGs. Ok but we have Sonic x Shadow Generations so none of this is happening until after that game Also be me who is playing SA 2 Battle on dolphin and just wonder why everybody liked this game so much. The voice acting is ass, the game play is janky and to sensitive like fr I am holding forward down a sloap and then I tilt to the left to adjust sonic so he doesn't fall off the path and he launches himself off the left side like bruh. Unleashed and Generations def better ngl. And I also tried Sonic Heroes and that was even more jank. I got a game over on level 1 cuz of me randomly falling off during Loops
