Inti Yeah. It was sad enough when they had to be rebooted for legal reasons. But last year, Archie Sonic ended entirely, and on a cliffhanger, no less. IDW got the license and will make their own Sonic comics, but it will be a separate universe entirely. Archie Sonic brought me a lot of memories over the years. It introduced me to many characters like Sally Acorn and the Freedom Fighters, as well as exclusive characters like Mina Mongoose. And now, sadly, the Freedom Fighters are in an unknown state, and the exclusive characters like Mina will likely never return.

It was sad, still is, but yet, the feeling of sadness is what helps me cope with it. I had a really terrible past, and I was determined at first to make sure the sadness never showed, but it was soon after I heard this song that I did, and it reallt helps. When my brother and I were very young, I used to scroll around the picture making voices for the characters and making a story of how the Chao wanted to go on a sleigh ride with sonic. One of my best childhood memories.

this track, out of any piece of music i have ever heard, encapsulates what nostalgia really is. it isnt all rose-tinted glasses, its bittersweet. the rose-tinted glasses are your intial excitement to relive the past as you remember it, and the bitterness sets in when you realize that even if you emulate the conditions or revisit the thing you remember fondly, youll never feel the same way you did in the past because its long gone and life has moved on. the sweet part is that youll always have those memories, and you can always come back to whatever you loved in the past even if it can never be exactly the same.

Words simply can’t describe what this song makes me feel on an emotional level. I was given the opportunity to get my very first video game that I could say was my own. I recognized sonic because my brother used to play sonic 1 on his old genesis. Of course, I didn’t know his name was sonic, I didn’t know who the yellow or red guys were- and didn’t even know what a “game” was. But I asked my mom for this game. I got home. And every day after school I would play this. Sometimes, every day before school I would play this. Man.. I could never get past Marble Zone in sonic 1. And chemical plant in Sonic 2 terrified me. But the music in Sonic 3 was soooo good. Spinball was good fun, and 3D Blast was pretty challenging. I would scroll through the comics... looking back on an era of Sonic I just barely missed. The funny Archie comics... the fantastic art... those cool behind the scenes videos... I remember getting a sonic action figure a few months later and that guy went everywhere with me... and sometimes... I would just leave this music on and not even scroll through the comics... I’d just listen. Oh those summer days I’d hang out with my friends and I’d show them all these games- introducing them to Sonic. Nostalgia hurts.. it really does. If only I could go back in time and just- watch myself and see how happy I was. Things are different now. But whenever I hear this music I time travel. Whoever composed this had to have known what they were doing. This music has struck a cord with almost everyone in the comments. Yo Sonic, thanks for always being there for me from childhood to adulthood. You were always a form of escapism and good fun.

As someone who lived through the 4th gen 16-bit console wars between Nintendo and SEGA, I can tell you how unreal it felt to have Sonic (yes *THAT* very Sonic) appear for the first time on a Nintendo home console in this collection. The character that had been a defining aspect of SEGA's marketing strategy throughout the entire 1990s had been rendered homeless by the merciless juggernaut that was the PS2, and now was taken in by his former rival Mario and had become another member of his menagerie of mascot friends on Nintendo's then-flagship system.

I love this theme....im 31 now played this back in 2002 in my teens me and my older brother would look at the comic covers and analyze them,and appreciate the slooow progression from the early archie sonic days where it was light hearted and funny...to how it sloowly turned darker and more serious as the years went by and how the art style changed, i love seeing how at first it was about one uping and making fun of robotnik, to sonic being on the run for allegedly killing princess sally, I love it...i love this theme and that menu man.
