Many of us know the epic Brass-focused fanfare of the Sonic SatAM theme. Ever wondered what may be happening behind it all?
In this video, I give a small window into a WIP where I layer on each section that I've written out. Because there's no sheet music available, there's so much guess-work and trial+error that goes into figuring out each instrument's voice. My goal is to remain faithful to the OST in it's primary focus while also breathing some new life into it. I hope you feel I am in the ball-park!
If you have any questions, or maybe even some suggestions, I would love to hear your thoughts below. Thanks for listening :)

Wow I had no idea there were so many layers to each piece of music. Very cool!

Right?? There's a ton of movement going on behind the main melody. Took a lot of digging to get everything. Its not 100% accurate but I believe it represents it faithfully.

Awesome! Each piece’s addition feels closer and closer to the emergence of Sonic himself! The orchestration sounds like his Heroic Second Wind! Can’t wait for the finished product!

You know what's really wierd. I know this music was used in the Sonic SatAM series, but as I listened to it, instead of Sonic, it made me think of Back To The Future. Excellent work. Really well done.

Not weird at all! The motifs are veeery similar but different. You're not just hearing things. Cool note: the composer who wrote the SatAM theme came from working on the Back to the Future Cartoon series. The locus of inspiration isnt a mystery :)

Wow!! This is so awesome, what a great way to show this off. I love the breakdown of each instrument, the layers here are crazy, and I really like the bouncy flute piece you put in there.

Thanks Reg :) I think I may do more breakdown stuff moving forward. Id love to see the musicians of the SatAM fanbase do more but its very tough to get at that background audio. I hope by breaking these down, it'll help us all figure out these long-lost epic orchestrations

You know, I usually come back to this preview despite the final version being out. Wanna know why? The reason is quite simple actually. It basically helped me imagine a track where it takes this melody as a base. Of course, I'm no composer, but if I had to describe it, It'd start on a slow tempo on the piano, kind of like a "sad" arrangement, and as the song progresses, it gets slowly but progressively faster, as each instrument gets in one by one (imagine it like all hope not being lost , as the fastest thing alive slowly emerges to save the day). Finally the track would finally get in the tempo we usually hear it in with all the instruments finally present, as a way to represent Sonic's triumphal arrival, and as a way to show he is here to ruin the plans of whatever villain he's facing. Sorry for that giant text wall by the way.😅

Totally! I kinda picture it like a 'Goku moment' where Sonic pushes through a low point in a fight, or even a training montage of some sort. I also come back this one often cause it just repeats my fav part :)

@@f0xshadow521 At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if I accidentally gave you some ideas for future compositions. It's just something I can be pretty good at.

Yea thats FL! I use 8Dio's Century Strings and Brass, Heavyocity's Damage 2, Native Instrument's Symphony Percussion and Woodwinds. Bit of a mixture of libraries. I only bought what I could find deals on as I am not the richest person. Thanks for the encouragement! It always goes a long way :)
