about the sonic not dodging the 'emo' First: one of the problems Sonic has is the fact that his high speed maneuvers are all sprint based... so if he uses one of those to evade, he may not have the stamina to evade something a bit more dangerous. Second (and more importantly): that part of the scene was slow-mo ... speed means nothing if the impact time is smaller than one's relaxed reaction time. (switching from relaxed to defensive can cause a temporary 'deer-in-headlights', further screwing up one's reaction time)
