Sonic the Hedgehog - Plasma (complete story)
In Metropolis City, things have gone from bad to worse for the citizens. After following on from the events from the previous issue, Dr Robotnik is determined to put fear back into the citizens after reports of him going soft spread. Meanwhile Sonic, Amy and Johnny are also in Metropolis City rescuing prisoners from being taken to a Badnik processing factory.

What time is it? Comment time! *Sonic the Hedgehog: Plasma* 0:11 Troopers: "Surprise muthaf****." 0:17 Frantic Wife: "But... wouldn't that include you?" Trooper: "...nooo?" 0:28 The Doctor lives up to his promises. This image just cements how fearsome this Robotnik really is. 0:43 Johnny: "Give us a minute Sonic, I'm working on my war face." 0:49 The Sonic logo on Johnny's jacket looks very surprised to hear that. Speaking of, have I ever mentioned how cool Johnny and Porker's jackets are? I've always wanted one of those, logo and all. 0:56 Oh heck, they're shippers! Just leave them in there Sonic, Robotnik's doing us ALL a favour this time. 1:01 Sonic just noticed Amy's hair from the last panel. Truly she is a 90's girl. 1:05 Amy's going in for that CRAZY EYED BOOTY GRAB! Johnny approves. 1:11 Sonic acting polite so suddenly gives me chortles, like he just caught himself ranting and is trying to save face... oh wait. 1:17 Amy's loving this. Then again, most would when put into her situation. 1:35 I see what you did there Megadroid. Also, anyone else notice that Plasma is basically a prototype Chaos with goofy teeth? 1:44 Sonic: "And not as pleased as me when you finally close your mouth. I can see your cavities!" 1:52 Sonic's Ladder had a distinctly different tone to Jacob's. 1:56 I prefer KFC myself. 2:12 Ah, I see Plasma is actually a member of the Drej. (If anyone gets that I'll be very impressed.) 2:22 Y'know, considering how this ends, I wonder if Amy just wanted Sonic to get shocked a lot more. 2:34 DON'T GIVE IT UP LUFFY! *Sniped by angry One Piece fans* 2:44 Amy's shadow looks weird here. Generally, shadows aren't supposed to have patches of white in them. Well, unless they're black and red hedgehogs who can use Chaos Control that is. 2:51 Woody: "USED YOUR KARATE CHOP ACTION!" Amy: "Am-Am-Am-Amy Rose to the rescue!" 3:03 Like popping a bubble. 3:13 I actually like Sonic's awkward modesty here, like he's not entirely sure if he deserves praise here. 3:20 - 3:34 This is an... awkward end to this story. I'm fully aware of the background situation involving executive meddling with regards to Amy's character, and while I understand what the moral is trying to convey, I don't agree with it. Amy deserved the praise here for figuring out Arnem's trickery. Without her, Sonic would be fighting an impossible battle. She shouldn't be letting Sonic hog all the glory. With that said, this is definitely where the darker elements of STC start ramping up. Robotnik's cracking down on Mobius, attacking almost indiscriminately, and the seedier elements of the people are going to take advantage of the people's vulnerability. Arnem was an interesting villain even if he is just a one-off, though I don't remember ever seeing him again. Kind of makes you wonder why, since there's a lot of potential to go with the guy. *Knuckles the Echidna: Ghost Ship - Part 5* 3:56 I like Ekkletos' design. Suitably mystical, and the red glow gives off an aura of authority to him. 4:04 Ekkletos: "Return the-" Plunder: "Someone beat ya to it matey." Ekkletos: "Darn." 4:08 Knuckles: "That time passed looong ago." 4:46 Ekkletos: "His last words were about returning the slab." Plunder: "Matey, you people have an obsession." 5:15 Listen to him Ekkletos! He's got his ANGRY eyes on! 5:45 Lead Heretic: "For the last bloody time, RETURN THE SLAB!" *Whispers from the other two* "...IDOL!" Still haven't much to say here. Moving on. *Sonic and Tails: Hidden Danger - Part 2* 6:04 Weird bait and switch here. Story starts be leading us to think Tails will save the day... then Sonic gets right back up again. Awkwaaaaard. 6:30 Sonic 3 Style! 6:37 Tails has become claymation! 6:50 To be fair, most other Tails' are literal geniuses. If this comment was aimed at SEGA Tails, you'd get a "No duh" from him. 7:12 Alpha 5 got roided out! 7:44 A missed opportunity. The robot should have given us the thumbs up as it went down. 7:50 Yeesh! Robotnik's smile makes me wish HE could turn invisible. Aaaand anti-climactic finish to my comment. Sorry, couldn't think of anything particularly interesting for the last panels. This issue is a weird one. I actually find myself liking the Plasma story a lot less now than I did back in the day. I don't approve of the final message, Amy comes off a little Mary Sue-ish (just a tad mind) and Sonic got credit he actually didn't deserve this time around. Once again, the Ghost Ship story is good but I have very little to say on it besides read it 'cos it's good, and the Hidden Danger story was decent enough (in fact, I think this second part is better than the main story for this issue). All I can say is that this was a good issue, but not an especially notable one. Not long before we get to something verrry notable though... (Countdown S-Minus 2...)

I think I'm the opposite with you here on the Pasma story. I actually prefer it more now than I did on its release. In truth as a kid I wasn't a fan of Amy and this strip annoyed me, Sonic was too cool for any mushy stuff and she was only dragging him down, ah the mind of a youngster haha, but now I have a much better liking for it and like Amy's characters very much. Also Arnem does make a small re appearance in the Robotnik Reigns Supreme Showdown arc! Also that oppening page with Robotnik is a very dark and powerful image, shows just how ruthless and without passion he truly it. A complete opposite to the Robotnik in the last strip of this issue ha, but then as we discussed different writers different takes etc. I like your Terminator 2 reference! Also Robotnik sure has a nice set of teeth and plenty of them in that last page haha.

***** I can see why you'd like it more as an adult, since you'd be more open minded to the idea of girls actually being good characters and not being icked out by romance. I will admit that while I have never cared much for the mushy stuff I've honestly never not liked this version of Amy, ever since I found out about the behind the scenes stuff but I've just grown more critical towards this story. Amy was a little bit of a creator's pet for a while, and this story is a prime example of that; she handily beats the villain, outsmarts everybody and gives Sonic the credit for it even when she didn't need to. Comes off a bit too purity sue for my tastes. My main issue with the story though is that it's moral really doesn't make any sense. Rather than pinning all the people's hopes on Sonic, it would have been better to remind them that Sonic isn't the only competent member on the team. If Sonic ever goes down and everyone thinks he's the only one who can save the day, then their spirits would be crushed. If Sonic goes down and people know the other Freedom Fighters can take up the mantle for him, they'll still have hope. I don't actually count Arnem's appearance in Robotnik Reigns Supreme since that's not actually him. Same goes for all the other villains who appeared there. They're either figments of Robotnik's power or alternate versions of themselves, not the originals. That opening page was easily the best part of the issue. That ending page was easily the worst (lol jk). "I'll be back."

***** Sadly no, I'm not really one for social media. I used to have Facebook years ago, but I didn't enjoy or use it much so I got rid of it. Nowadays I really only use Skype, KZbin or DA to talk to people. Sorry.
