I'm so glad they showed how much a tank Knuckles is in this fight. It's a forgotten aspect of Knuckles, he's tough and doesn't stop. He's broken through larger pieces of stone than what Sonic could spindash him through 4 times. He even smashed though even more rock after Sonic's attack with ease. Awesome detail on how solid he is.

There are so many references to the games in this that it's insane. This is Hidden Palace Zone which was originally going to be in the Sonic 2 game but, for reason got cut. The unused song for the level is even in the final version of the game. Sonic and Knuckles also had a boss fight (easy as shit) at Hidden Palace Zone in the Sonic & Knuckles game.

The fact that Sonic, a teenager who's still learning the ropes of hero work, was able to be a match to a tough, mighty, and trained warrior, and later on, a 50 year old hedgehog with tons of experience in martial arts, while barely having any training himself. This guy can wreck some serious ass without even trying, he really is unstoppable. And I like how the writers are not afraid to show how scary Sonic can be once he gets really serious. He nearly beat Knuckles in this movie, and actually had Shadow pinned down in the third movie. Movie Sonic is a beast.
