Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Genesis, 1994) Angel Island Zone & Hydrocity Zone

I have both the GameCube original and mega collection plus on the OG Xbox. The whole story with Michael Jackson and sonic free is fucking wild to say the least, when you really get down to it, it’s just nuts. That being said John, I would say you are correct in the sense of It’s a game they have more rights. I’m lucky I got the Xbox black bone ports (the ones found on the Sega mega drive collection for Xbox 360 and PS3) before they got delisted because of sonic origins. Ultimately irrespective of music licensing issues I’m just happy that people can get to play sonic three (especially sonic three and knuckles as the complete experience) on modern platforms if people so choose to. I still don’t agree with the PC original delisting, if for no other reason that based on research that I’ve done the original Steam PC port of sonic three and knuckles is pretty much the most accurate next to the OG mega Drive/genesis version.

@@Eva_H Hey, Eva! How are you? And I totally agree with you that it’s ridiculous how music licensing was such a big deal because MJ was involved in the creation of it. Also, there was a game of his called Michael Jackson Moonwalker that released for the Genesis years earlier, but note that we’ll never see that released under a compilation for the same reason. It was kind of like they wanted people to think that Sonic 3 never existed, even though we know better. It was supposed to be Sonic 3 and Knuckles but the game wasn’t quite finished yet, and they released Sonic Spinball to make up for it. It’s alright, if not frustrating, at times.

@ well they had cartridge problems due in developments and instead there was seven months apart between the release of sonic three and sonic and knuckles. I remember Michael Jackson Moonwalker for mega Drive, we also got it on the master system over here but if I remember correctly, you also ended up in the arcade and that version was different to the console versions. I also know that Michael wasn’t happy with synth sound chip of the mega drive either. The only reason they wanted to raise Michael in the first place was because of allegations made in 1993, the year before sonic three ironically came out. If I’m completely honest though I think the soundtrack for the first two sonic games are the best, sonic two being my favourite, mainly because it’s my favourite game overall even if Metropolis is an absolute arsehole of a level 🤣 To answer the question of how am I doing? I’m feeling so so right now. I’m hopeful that I’m going to be able to get a legion go soon.

@Eva_H I love the Metropolis theme in Sonic 2. True, it's one of the hardest and longest because it has 3 acts to it, but the music keeps you going, though. These are for you: ⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️
