Sonic The Hedgehog 4 (Genesis) :: Walkthrough (1080p/60fps)

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 (Genesis) is a Rom Hack of Sonic 1 created by TheRetroGuy.
Since there isn't exactly any info on this, I'll share my take on it. So in this Rom Hack, Sonic's sprites are Sonic 3 style, Dr. Robotnik's sprites changed as well, they instantly remind me of S1: Harder Levels sprites. The first act of Green Hill seems to have a somewhat layout change, aside from that, 2nd & 3rd act of Green Hill & Marble show change in palette. Soundtracks are what make it standout, even during the boss battles (after 4 hits, the pinch mode track starts), plus I like the fact that the Title Screen looks pretty clean, while having its options much similar to Sonic 4 itself.
Water physics seem odd, talking mostly towards Labyrinth, while a glitch worth noting, Sonic randomly disappearing during Act 3. Also I really don't know what happened during the beginning of Star Light Act 3, but randomly thought I could make it back up the hill lol.

It’s like you can see when the rom hacker stopped caring. First act has a few unique map layouts, act two and three and just purple green hill zone. Second zone is just marble zone, though act 2 and 3 still have a recolor. Then by the third zone it just a straight up sonic one rom with renamed levels.

That rom hack in its core is a distilled form of shitpost. You get an amalgamation of worst you can get in classic titles - S1 stages, S2 plain menus and finally S3 Sonic's sprites.

@@Steamuch what's wrong with Sonic 1's stages? Sure there's a bit of waiting involved sometimes but just because the emphasis isn't on speed doesn't mean they suck. They're actually full of really creative traps etc that keep you on your toes. Certainly none of them are as bad as Aquatic Ruin and such like.

A great idea. It would be awesome if someone bring the real Sonic 4 stages to Genesis, changing the tiles and stuff. There is so much hard work. I think the better basis to do this changes it would be Sonic The Hedgehog 3. Interesting colors on Marble Zone though.

Yes guys even though this room hack is 9 years old already ng, it still remains the prototype of the game in the 4th part of the Sonic game The hedgehog and which you can still play on the Sega emulator, the android version or on the PC, this HPC includes locations from 4 parts, Sonic's sprites from the same place and even ballet shoes and the same from there only in 2D style.

No, Sonic 1 doesn’t have a V, W, X or a few other letters in its font by default. Some hacks have added in some extra letters, like Sonic Megamix, and The S Factor.

SONIC 4 was originally was going be made for Genesis before they can it to move on to Satrun games. Those days hardware makers don't quite making games for their last gen console until few years after their next gen have came out to the market.

zone names for the purple green hill and recolour marble zone: syluania hill, sonic has almost reached syluania castle, but he still needs to go through splash hill, molten castle act 2, the lava has goten hotter while sonic was entering the level, molten castle act 3, sonic revisited the level after defeating eggman, EDIT: the act 2 music fits lol 5:04

What is noteworthy in this game from Genesis is the choice of levels right on the title screen, which is not in the usual first part of the game, options and even hack credits.

And there were several characters to choose from in a special blue window, namely Sonic and Tails, one Tails, or only one Sonic Knuckles, Sonic and Knuckles play together in the game levels, or just Tails and Knuckles together and so on, combinations can be of the character's choice.
