youtube algorithm make it again, I used to listen to this one a lot back in 2004-5-6 when I was like 15-16. A friend of mine burned this one on a cd, as a present to me and I love this one live show, listen so manny times, day after day, then one day I lost it or whatever, and never knew the full name of the album or show, cause the cd was pen-written "SY LIVE" just that. Today 2:48 am December 3, 2020, around 16 years later I randomly came across this one, and just press play cause the artwork was interesting and did not remember to listen to this one form SY, and deff is that one live set that I used to love when I was a kiddo.

I saw this CD as a wallflower in a CD-store here, years back. The store is now long gone - as are just about all record stores here. I now realize I missed out on somethig - especially since 1987 was, IMO, SY's zenith-point with Sister. So - I just ordered the CD at long last. :-)

6 years late but glad to meet someone who also rates Sister highest, assuming that's still the case

Sister IS the best rock album ever. It's the zeppelin 4 of alternative/noise or whatever. Genreless as they always were, something happened after a thousand leaves and everything from nycgaf is not very interesting. How? everything they ever made (except bad moon rising excluding dv69) prior was absolutely perfect. Not a single song that is not perfect. Even made in usa was amazing and it was a soundtrack to an independent film. Sister is the first sy album I bought when I was 12

Thanx fr posting, I really wanted to hear this tonight. I had this record when I was a teenager (hope it's still at my Parents' house). It had a sticker on the cover that said "over an hour hour of music. don't have a cow, just crank it up!". I guess because it was an hour of music on vinyl and the sound was compressed. But whatever --it's a kickass bootleg recording, just crank it up! "I don't wanna walk around with you!"
@Xcalator358 жыл бұрын
+number7gracestreet Yes. The sound from the vinyl was really bad (a friend of mine had it). I just appreciated it when the CD version came out. Being a long time fan of SY I love this album very much. Here in Portugal a rock critic once said that his three favourite live albuns were The Ramones's 'It's Alive', Johnny Cash's 'Live at Folsom Prision' and this one! BTW, that's my own choice too!

That is the koolest thing I've heard in a while I don't remember noticing that when I had this when I was 16. I'm 42. I've been listening to all the other records since I was 12 or 13 and my whole life since. An uncountable amount of times. Yet I've never sought this recording again until now. I feel as though I'd notice it back then.

interestingly the ebst songs are really the Ramones' covers, not perhaps because Sonic Youth's own songs are crap (au contraire) but because one suddenly realises how strong and timeless the Ramones' anthems are: Anyone with the strengtha dn pwoer can sing these timeless songs to ther best. God bless the Ramones AND Sonic Youth - two of the wonderful things to come from a country that scarcely desrves them.

Zen: I saw Swans once and that was enough. The whole approach is quasi-fascistic, steamrolling and highly insensitive, to say the least. If you wanna bludgeon yourself with such deafening sounds, that's your prerogative, but don't tread on me.
@edstrandberg65205 жыл бұрын
I saw Swans three times and that was not enough. I found their shows cathartic and quite a bit more dynamic than you did, evidently. Definitely a far more interesting project than, say, Sonic Youth. SY is noise for weaboos.
@chrisknight37344 жыл бұрын
Swans barely sound anything like they did in the 80s. I think most indiegoers could enjoy their shows.

The Ramones stuff is cool, but lousy sound. Steve Albini's Big Black, useless; while I'm at it, Helmet, useless; Die Kruzen, useless; Live Skull, useless; Swans, useless. Metal is metal, one of the azzhole genres indie rock initially came up against. / Sonic Youth an exception, sometimes anyhow.
@Skiptracer19816 жыл бұрын
If you saw Helmet or Big Black live, you wouldn't call either useless.
