I own an octatrack, rytm, korg E2, tempest, op1 and mpc live and this thing blows them all away in functionality and ease of use by far. From the moment I turned it on the workflow just made sense. Furthermore the team of this boutique company is endlessly improving their product and has been immediately responsive to user questions and concerns since the day it was released. They literally deserve an award for how a company should conduct business and develop products. Cheers to @sythstrom and looking forward to the magic they will continue to bring to music. @Sonicstate definitely needs to do a full, in studio review of this product.

This guys so committed. It’s like he’s addressed every groovebox annoyance there ever was since the 90s. Total Kudos to him. I hope it does well or somebody invests so there is a version 2 with a screen.

H4NDCRAFTED if you used one you'll see no need for a screen the grid is the screen it's so fast and easy to create sequences you'll never look back

Just buy an MPC if your desperate for a screen. But it would be annoying touch screen and just a faff. No screen is definitely better, you have a pair of ears. Plus the Deluge now displays a wave (of sorts)
@RonCavagnaro6 жыл бұрын
I have extensive simple videos explaining it. I love my deluge and glad it's being covered because it's the absolute best out there especially in combination with synths and groove boxes. Is freaking awesome. If you used it, no screen is needed it's so simple and easy youd be blown away how easy it is.

The deluge is the heart of my setup as well. The CV/gate, master clock out, sampler are just an amazing feature set. Don't use the synth engine much, but nice when I am without my modular. Can't live without it!

Hi Ron and other Deluge users, can you please explain a bit about how it is different from MPC X? I want to use it with modular gear and a few midi synths, virus ti/radias/A4000/analog4 etc - what sort of limitations are there using it as the hub of a hardware system? I don't really know how I would connect all these various sound boxes.. thanks!
@RonCavagnaro6 жыл бұрын
toranamunter sorry no I can't tell you I don't use any of that gear. If you want to see the workflow I've made tons of videos on it. I have about eight external synths that it controls if that helps

I actually had my Deluge on Craigslist because I thought I needed *money*. Just deleted the post. Silly me.. It seems rare for a company to make a device and stick behind it the way you guys have instead of rushing onto the next thing. Proud to be an owner and supporter.

Great job Ian, I bought mine 2-3 weeks ago. I have been looking for a sequencer for years and for me all of them fell short and were returned,until the Deluge. This device is very deep and has incredible potential but easy enough to use, I made my first song within minutes. Currently I am using it to sequence 5 mono and 2 polyphonic external synths with multiple tracks per synth. Play multiple internal drum machines at the same time, play samples and it has an internal synth engine which again you can play multiple instances of at the same time. I believe I have only scratched the surface, the addition of the new song mode will only extend the potential and increase the use cases for this awesome device. My DAW is still my main song creation tool but when you want to take a break and have a more tactile experience this is a great DAW replacement. The Deluge is able to be used as a standalone performance device but I can also see integrating the Deluge with my DAW for live performance.

I'm a DJ and I use a pair of the now discontinued Electrix Tweakers. They have a similar approach with a grid of led buttons and a whole grip of features and layers. I absolutely love them. They're a massive deviation from the whole two turntables setup but they're so much more than that. As I spend more time with them they are more and more like an instrument I play and less like DJ controllers. So many synths seem limited to me, but the Deluge looks like I'd have as much fun with it as I do with my Tweakers!

Haze Anderson I already having it at home. Conditional triggering unlimited motion sequence absolutely massive sequencer and song mode with how many bar's you want sample card streaming (Stereo sampling) + the subtractive and FM synth and good FX . You can write it how you want but this smokes the digitakt even when you don't like the deluge .Only advantage of the digitakt is the display but once you get your head around the Deluges work flow I think it's pretty straight forward. But I can understand if someone's choose the digitakt for some reason

The only thing that makes me hesitate to get this is that aggressively minimalistic 7-segment display. I totally get why small manufacturers choose these things.. writing software for them is a million times easier than for a proper bitmapped display, but I can't imagine the Deluge display never being an obstacle to keep track of what mode it's in.. One thing I love in the Deluge is its battery-driven nature.. there's not many portable drum machines out there.

other than a brief article mentioning the deluge release date and specs sonicstate never previewed or reviewed it, there was no real support other than this video. for a product more than a year old, gaz had no clue what this device is capable of so that says everything. there was a sonicstate podcast episode where they talked about it when it launched but they dismissed it for silly reasons, being too complicated to learn, display too small etc which I find it ridiculous since everyone who owns one knows how intuitive and easy it is to use. fortunately other surprisingly small but more dedicated youtubers made extensive videos about the deluge.

@MnemoLogic6 жыл бұрын
Ron Cavagnaro It's not my only piece of gear if I would get one... memorizing all the hidden functions behind the UI - good luck with that. I will not learn any complex thing, which is (imho) not superior to a DAW. I'm seeing me not "faster" or "more inspired" by such a monster. Creativity needs its boundaries. That's why I love analog instruments. Simple, clean, creative.
@RonCavagnaro6 жыл бұрын
MnemoLogic it is simple, but if you insist to not understand it. I barely ever reach for shortcuts!

@georgegalamb75236 жыл бұрын
Interesting; but it would have been even better and less confusing if they added a decent alphabetic-character display and not just a so limited numeric display.
@RonCavagnaro6 жыл бұрын
George Galamb it's extremely easy to use. Explaining it is more complex. It's perfect. The grid is the screen
@georgegalamb75236 жыл бұрын
Ron Cavagnaro Well, the grid is definitely what makes this "sequencer" so special. If there is no hidden menu, then fine. But still, you can't name your patterns and songs with a "numeric characters only" display; all you can see on it is a few numbers. Don't you think that some functions on such a machine would be more informative if we would be able to actually read it? And I am not talking about the sequencing "grid" section, that part is perfect. I am talking about a readable menu and naming your patterns and songs display.
@RonCavagnaro6 жыл бұрын
George Galamb you haven't used it so you don't know how awesome it is. The led shows names when checking sample names, you can scroll back and forth. No number alpha entry yet but really you don't need it. There's also a WiFi card option coded by a user that can have all of that. Seriously this is amazing.
@jakfearon29456 жыл бұрын
The screen on it has honestly never given me any difficulties. It's charming, even. I totally dig it.
@ToyKeeper6 жыл бұрын
I agree, a screen would be useful. And perhaps some extra knobs to allow access to more parameters at once. The Deluge does many things, is unique in some pretty interesting ways, and its grid is particularly nice. But, personally, I'd replace most of the top section with something more like the Digitakt or Digitone's top half.
@shookstylez6 жыл бұрын
this thing is SO CONFUSING.
@MusicGearNuts6 жыл бұрын
It's simple but so many short-cuts and hidden layers make it difficult to learn and confusing unless you have memorized everything. If it's the only piece of gear that you focus on, that may not be a problem...
@HazeAnderson6 жыл бұрын
You guys sound like the Elektron fans, "oh it's so easy!" ... nothing is easy.
@HazeAnderson6 жыл бұрын
Yep, guess I'll just have to keep doing things the hard way. 😂I started using DAWs back in 1993. Stopped using them 1995 after things just kept getting easier and easier and music kept getting worse and worse. Correlation? I think so.
@HazeAnderson6 жыл бұрын
Nobody "shamed" this product. Why would I shame this product? You seem to enjoy it. I wouldn't want to take that away from you. But what works for you does not work for everyone, and you should not assume it does.
@MusicGearNuts6 жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone is shaming it here Ron. You're taking this a little too personal it seems. It's an observation, a description, an adjective or whatever you want to call it. It is what it is with no emotion behind it. Saying that it doesn't have layers of key combos ("shortcuts") would be incorrect. Saying that it does is correct. It's quite black and white. This might be an issue for some and not at all for others.
