@@BillyAndYoFran Yeah planning to take this on a beach vacation with a couple of Volcas and maybe my Reface CP. They will make a nice little compact live play studio. Focusing on synths with built-in speakers... If I get something 'recordable' out of it, I'll save it until I get back when I can do some proper mixing and effects. I wish the XFM hadn't gotten delayed, don't know if you are getting one, but sounded like a great inexpensive FM synth built on the same 'platform'.

I'm a fan of chiptune/keygen music. I own a Therapsid and Nanoloop cartridge for Gameboy, both of which can be unstable at times. I kind of want to pick up one of these and try using all three together. How well does this work as a step-sequencer style drum machine? Are those onboard effects you're using?

What does the keyboard feel like? Clicky plastic buttons or are they smooth to play?

The whole unit is very light and very plastic based and yes the keys are plastic clicky buttons. But the company makes great sonic tools. This particular unit is very light and can run off of batteries so it’s a great portable piece. But if you need to midi hook up a bigger keyboard use this as the brain?

This is so people can determine whether they would need the featured studio tool or not, based solely on how it sounds itself. Is that the internal reverb? Sound demos with external effects are not that helpful to get a somewhat accurate idea of how the synth sounds live. If it’s the internal one, it is fair game.

No, the Liven Mega Synthesis is 6 part multitibral. This beautiful little synth is mono timbral, but it has a three-part "looper" which records sequences to (temporary) audio freeing the machine to load other sequences. The looped parts have independent volume controls. There is also a fourth slot to record and loop external audio. The singular sequencer also also allows for what they call "Sound locking" which means that different waveforms can be played in the same sequence - ie kick drum, snare drum and hi hat. @@annother3350
