Extra info: don't forget you can automate the "dice" control so you can control the probability for each step in a sequence too

Brilliant! Didn't know "Dice" had a per-note implementation of randomness, and not per-step.

Thanks, yes I think they made the right decision there, much more interesting than simply on or off.

Thanks Chris I was wondering about the possibility of doing the same thing only today. Thanks for sharing. Respect.

Thanks for sharing this! I don’t have an XFM but I keep thinking it would be a nice piece of gear. This makes it even more interesting to me.

Thank you. They know how to pack in the features for sure

i've found that tips for some of these sonicware devices transfer from one to the next! i'm so tempted to buy yet another one haha
@ChrisLodyMusic12 күн бұрын
Yeah they do, the Livens share quite a lot of different features so this tip will work on quite a lot of them

I thought this was a nice trick, it’s very useful, got me thinking.

Your videos are great! Do you have any plans to make some related to the Sonicware SmplTrek when it comes out? I'd be really interested to see how you utilize it's midi capabilities pertaining to it's midi tracks.
@ChrisLodyMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I certainly will be yes. There's a lot of features on the SmplTrek so quite how the tutorials will be structured and what features I'll cover I'm still unsure of

This is one of my favorite features for an electronic instrument to have. Does the Liven Sonicware 8 Bit Warps have any “random” features like what you’ve shown here?
@ChrisLodyMusic Жыл бұрын
The 8Bit Warps has a random sequencer mode which will play steps of a sequence in a random order but it doesn't have the Dice feature that the other Livens have
@BecomingAPsych2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. Can this be used to add some subtle variation into a melodic or percussive track? Thanks for your enjoyable and informative videos on getting the great music out of low budget gear. Particularly those on the XFM for which you are the go-to-guy on KZbin.
@ChrisLodyMusic2 жыл бұрын
You're welcome 😁 Yes you even record automation for the "dice" knob using parameter locking so some parts of the melody can play 100% of the time and some parts not
@jasonp59182 жыл бұрын
Just bought one of these a few days ago and just got around to playing with it. Been having a ton of fun with it.(Doing a drone note with parameter locks switching up the color each step sounds nice) I can use this as a 4 track sequencer to my other synths? How would it compare to say a beat step pro I wonder?
@ChrisLodyMusic2 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be used as a 4 track sequencer for external gear. I've not used a beatstep pro but the XFM is missing a few things like pitch bend automation and custom midi CC automation. It can send some midi CCs but only the ones assigned to it's knobs by default. It is a nice extra feature though, perfect for Behringer desktop modules like the wasp deluxe which doesn't have pitch bend or midi CCs anyway
