@@mrbeefhead You can not be serious? japan is not new york. and the beatles don't have a catalogue of such great influence as sonic youth do. i grew up listening to the Beatles but they would not be in my top one hundred. the best music has come out of the US for such a long time. punk and no wave started here. John lennon had a few songs that are considered influential, but for me the beatles were a cash spinner, dull frankly (Written expression revised 19/01/2020)

This song has special meaning to me. I met a girl in HS in 1993 and introduced her to SY. This song was on the first time I kissed her. Over 20 years later and a divorce from the same girl; I cannot listen to this song without thinking about that night in Randolph NJ in 1993. :(

[Lee] When you see the spiral turning through alone And you feel so heavy that you just can't stop it When this sea of madness turns you into stone Picture of your life shoots like a rocket All the time Put 'me' in the equation it's alright I've seen you moving in and out of sight My friends tell me it's all cut through you (?) From nowhere - to nowhere Cut together - cutting through I'm island-bound, a mote inside my eye I can't see you breathing as before I am airless - a vacuum child I can't stand to reason at your door In this time Put 'me' in the equation it's alright I've seen you moving in and out of sight My friends tell me it's all cut through you (?) From nowhere - to nowhere Come together I'm down in the daytime out of sight Comin' in from dreamland I'm on fire I can see it's all been here before Dream a dream that lies right at your door When the seasons circle sideways out of turn And words don't speak just fall across the carpet You're just in time to watch the fires burn It seems a crime but yr. face is bright you love it All the time...

@@jonansestao4982 That's very strange, because the Scots have their own very specific accent, as well as the Welsh. In Northern Ireland they also have specific accent. They all sound different than the English. Since those are all parts of Great Britain, it's very strange that should be a single British accent. Since Damon Albarn is from England, he is bound to have the English accent. If there is Scottish accent, and there is, then there very well is English accent, too. I can tell you there is also Northern English Accent and Southern English Accent. Hell, there is even Yorkshire accent. Yeah, those pesky English. The things they do with the English language.

Get this picture : in my room trying to follow the bass line using an acoustic guitar with an small speaker taped to it , speaker from broken boombox, the speaker connected to the playhead entrance of the same boombox ( yeah I quit the head and use that input to connect the wires of the speaker, so you have a kind of saturated / distorted) sound. Primitive poor bastard with a bit of imaginatioin. I hated the acoustic guitar, so I needed electricity. Hahaha. Sonic Youth, some nirvana and other bands all in k7s. I was 14, my teen years, in total pleasure and extasis by discovering the magic of the noise of music. Not the music itself, just the noise. How I can express what Sonic Youth means to me? Love seeing the Lee Ranaldo love fest in these comments. Definitely agree it's a shame he didn't get more songs, especially during the 90s era. Seemed like he got way more songs in the 80s. Would be a shame if Kim and Thurston refused to let him have more songs on the albums. But regardless, it's undeniable that his songs always stood out.

Not the easiest music to like, but those guitars are otherworldly.

I really don't see why you're complaining? Install ad-block and you won't see any adverts on any videos.

Steve G "I really don't see why you're complaining?" did you read my comment? it's pretty self explanatory. try reading comprehension. it's rad. also that's not a question. that's a statement. it ends in a period.

I don't think you get it. You have the option of not having to sit through any commercials, everybody does with the ad-block add-on. So your comment is absolutely absurd :p Cos you're venting about something which is your own choice!

Steve G and yet the first time i viewed this video i still had to sit through an add. also helpful tip: i wouldn't be accusing anyone of "not getting it" when you end sentences with question marks. we're done here man.

DrawOutTheLions actually your statement didn't have any periods, it had ... which implies the thought is unfinished or continuing. There did you see what I just did, that was a period, here I'll do it again. Try niceness, it's rad.

I love sonic youth since a decade and listened to this song many times before, but it just hit me harder than ever before. Always thought this song was kinda cool, nothing more. This now was an experience on a spiritual level 😄 amazing how a band can do that with you.
