I don’t think you need more than two in this deck since it is focused on target opponent discard not symmetrical discard

18:25 if you had done the meathook for 2, the 2/3 deathtouch (I don't remember his name) would became a 0/1 deathtouch and you could attack with your creature without it dying

But opponent could have just not blocked, and it would pop back to a 2/3 next turn. Sonio chose the cleaner solution imo.

Well, i run a similar deck but the card choices are different frim this: i got 4 cut down, 3 sleeper agent/underdog/trespasser, 4 hero's downfall, 2 duress (can be changed with any choice) 3 invoke despair, 2 junji, 3 the domain board wipe, 4 pilfer and 4 lotv. I use all of the triomes who generate black. So far it's working and i felt braids return is good but not that oppressive, maybe it was the match ups Edit: it's 3 evolved sleeper, sleeper agent is ajani and that's WG.

Those special full art basic lands are usually timed offers. Those Sonio is using were in the store back in Theros Beyond Death in early 2020. I don't know if they ever offered them again since, but keep an eye on that daily Featured thing at the store, who knows.

I might be understanding the card wrong, but in Game 4 vs Azorius, when the Emperor targeted Henrika Domnathi couldn't Sonio have sacrificed her to the Hostile Hostel instead of getting her exiled? Ultimately not a big difference in that game, but would that be a possible move to get another soul counter and have Henrika in the graveyard?

Decks like Game 2 sometimes make My head scratch a little. The deck did a whole lot of nothing. Draw almost 12 more cards, looked most of the deck, countered and shocked things at random. And then surrendered.

Don't underestimate the cycling. This is a game of card advantage and depleting resources ... so preventing mana flood (not unlikely in a 25 lands deck) is more valuable than missing a turn because of a tapped land. After all ... the tower - like any land you don't need ... is a nice potential discard card to Liliana. Therefore: Including the card into this list has imho little downsides but not unsignificant upsides. Such small improvements really do matter in especially tempo and card advantage strategies.

They didn't make discard any better than it was... the format slowed down to allow it to exist. Wizards knows how this works. If discard was actually good they wouldn't use concealing curtains. That card is awful. Same with raven man.

@@poopmcgee2410 Why exactly is concealing curtains awful? It's a card to see out early aggro and provide a removal worthy threat as the game goes on, with the upside of disruption too. I understand you're not gonna imitate rdw with it, but it fits the archetype well. Raven man I don't have an opinion of, maybe there is some alternative token transmutation combo that we're all missing. I haven't used him yet. There are cool cards from other colours too, but no other colours feel as "plug and play" as mono black is

@@arsenalfanrichi dies to all of the removal, card disadvantage, not a mana efficient threat. It's a really bad card. If it was a 2cmc 0/3 with a 4cmc activation 'that didn't have the card draw stipulation and possibly instant speed, then i could see it being good but as it is, no.

@@poopmcgee2410 Neither is card disadvantage as far as I can tell. Raven Man triggers off opponent discard as well as your own. Curtains is a free thoughtseize on transformation with a 3/4 menace body payoff as a mana sink later in the game. They do both die to removal, yeah

After watching your video, I have to question why you put 4 virus beetles in this deck. Most of the time it wasn't relevant. You already have 3 Pilfers, so why not choose a different creature for that slot? Make it 4 Pilfers and then add 3 Knight of Dusk's Shadow. They disallow the opponent's lifegain and can be reanimated the same as you did with the virus beetle.
