Dude, can we talk about Tails' and Eggman's relationship here? They both clearly care for one another's well being, Eggman would lie to keep Tails safe, they both trust each other a lot, and even promised to save Sonic together. Which is really neat considering Eggman betrayed Knuckles in their Duo ending. (Not to mention Eggman was really upset about what happened to Tails in all the endings I've seen.) I really that chemistry those to have. It's not romantic or sexual tension like Knuckles and Rouge (THANK GOD, I ship Knuxrouge btw), but rather a father/son thing, y'know? And the ending kinda reminds me of the ending from SA2, where Tails and Eggman were bonding. Sad that SEGA threw that away...

I know his duo ending with Knuckles he feels sorry for having to beat him and if you die with Tails in the best ending he’ll feel bad for his death. There is an EASTER EGG if you lose your last life with Knuckles but save Tails and Robotnik the doctor will encounter Knuckles’ corpse before the cutscene before he escapes with the big ring and at the Hidden Palace he will tell Tails about his death and he sounds sad when he tells him which shows he really does care about Tails in this game.

There is one oversight I noticed in this duo: if knuckles dies by illusion on last life(where exeller suggest you to give up), robotnik will encounter knux's corpse and tell tails about him. However, if knux dies by illusion on give up screen, robotnik will not encounter knux's corpse, but he'll still say he's dead
