Sonja Plunkett Remembers Constable Rob Plunkett of York Regional Police, a Hero In Life, Not Death

Sonja Plunkett remembers her husband, Rob Plunkett, a police officer who died in the line of duty. Rob is a Hero In Life, Not Death. His name is on the Ontario Police Memorial located near Queen's Park in Toronto, Ontario. Rob's community service will forever be remembered.

Circumstances
Constable Plunkett was killed while attempting to make an arrest during a criminal investigation involving a man allegedly stealing a car for the possession of airbags. As Cst. Plunkett approached the vehicle, the man began accelerating in reverse, striking the police officer and pinning him between the open car door and a tree.
Postscript
Two parties were arrested in connection with this incident.

I worked with Rob during Special Olympics. He was such a really awesome, dedicated, fun loving guy. I remember him all the time. I’m so sorry for your and your family’s loss. We lost a great one that night!

So tragic and such an unfortunate state of affairs that this kind of situation continues to happen to our police officers whose jobs are to serve and protect their community members, neighbors friends and family members as well as complete strangers and they are constantly putting their lives on the line in order to do their jobs not knowing what could happen to them at the end of every shift or during every shift not knowing whether or not they will be able to safely return home to their own families! Never take one single day for granted especially in law enforcement, it's one of the most dangerous yet selfless careers anyone could ever have! I cannot imagine what it must be like to be in any kind of a relationship with a police officer constantly worrying about my significant other all of the time! I'd never be able to sleep at night until I knew that my partner had made it home safely after each of their shifts! Thank you so very much for you're service and dedication 🙏 in keeping us safe 🙏 and putting your life in danger in order to protect complete strangers it definitely takes a special type of person to do this kind of work!
