If you are planning to visit Sonmarg then I would like to suggest one thing, search Sonmarg photos on google, I can bet that you will never going to miss this amazing and beautiful Sonmarg in your Kashmir trip.
Sonmarg or Sonamarg is widely popular among tourist because of different reasons. There are many devotees visiting holy Amarnath Cave from Sonmarg and many are planning Leh Ladakh trip from Sonmarg as well because Sonmarg is last major city in Kashmir before entering Leh Ladakh.
Thajiwas Glacier is one of the best and most popular place to visit in Sonmarg. Although many visitor are visiting Bartal Valley along with Zero Point also known as Zoila Pass. In Sonmarg, Sarbal village is last village of Kashmir, after that Ladakh Union Territory starts.
In Sonmarg many peoples are forced to take pony ride but I would like to recommend Sonmarg Trek to Thajiwas Glacier because I personally did it and enjoyed a lot. Sonmarg trek took 1 hour for me to reach Thajiwas Glacier.
There are few major attractions in Sonmarg.
1. Thajiwas Glacier
2. Bartal Valley
3. Zero Point or Zoila Pass

The pony ride to the Glacier should be Rs 1000-1200. Never pay beyond Rs. 1500. Do not let your taxi driver do the bargaining. The driver will get a fat commission for getting a high price. You do the bargaining. make it clear that you will not pay a penny more than agreed. As soon as you start the ride, "Helpers" will flock and try to convince you that the path is dangerous and you require their services. In a harsh manner tell them to leave and make it clear you will not pay them.

As per my opinion, Sonmarg select karna chahiye because Gulmarg me Gondola ride hi main attraction hai aur agar weather sahi nahi hoga to wo cancel ho jayega lekin Sonmarg me aap trek karte huye bhi Glacier ja sakte ho aur raste me aa rahe sare beautiful views enjoy kar sakte ho aur Sonmarg me Sindh river is so beautiful

There is a road actually tht goes till thajjwas park which is closer to thajjwas glacier the locals don’t tell you about it to charge u fr pony….even the road is dismantl d at starting to avoid people from going through it…. It still shows on gmaps if u search thajjwas park
