The gate idea is smart in my books and with the ability to move it with the tractor is a plus as you can set the height with the loader. When you do a job enough times you find things that make it more efficient

Love your gate idea, we had some bump gates long ago but they been bumped to hard . They would open and close with a small bump from vehicle, worked on counter weight, actually factory built guessing 50's or 60's. You might think about windshield and seat /hand warmer for wheeler , it makes a big difference. I had to replace windshield several times now but think its worth it here in windy WY. The warmer is found on amazon as motorcycle- snowmobile seat warmer , it gets so warm I'll turn it off after awhile. Happy new year!

Hey Cole, I’m not sure that the little battery will not be able to support your demand. Sure it will be good for a one time use. You will most surely need a deep charge 12 volt battery For boats and trailers. Remember you will be going in and out repeatedly moving manure through the gate.

I do not have your imagination, so I can’t visualize your project. Had the same problem when you created the barb wire rewind reclamation devise. I watched the creation of the frame for the gate and can’t wait to see the completion and operation. You gave a creative mind. Cole, I had a set of those sawhorses on my service truck. They were great folded up compact and stored nicely. After the second time that a leg folded up and everything went down. I throw them out. Keep the Great videos coming.

Cole you can take a cheap mighty mule 12v gate opener and let the linear actuator activate the hyd pump with some micro switches and have a standard remote controlled gate, and it can stay in place. I made a 22' gate for a summer camp locally doing this setup, I made the gate go vertical at first but changed it to a swinging gate because if the unit malfunctioned you couldn't get the gate open in the vertical position. If you want to talk about how I did it let me know.

I worked for several outfits over the course of 20 years not once that I ever get to weld with new metal. I am so jealous!! We always had rusted out sucker rod, an if were lucky the thick walled pipe lol.

Making the gate the width of a cattle panel and welding it to the gate frame makes for a strong yet light gate.

I have a suggestion for the valve on your tank. Water tank manufacturers make little heat tapes for use inside water lines. Could you wrap one of these heat tapes around the valve and connect it to your truck light's. Turn you lights on as you drive to the feild to heat the valve.

Hey Cole nothing wrong with welding angles the way you do but you should invest in a good square and welding magnets to make perfect angles and those magnets come useful as a third end and many more other utilities. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the big guy!

Cole, I love the idea, but I’m with your brother on the Ft. Knox hydraulic gate. Maybe draw me a picture of the concept? I still like watching you build the stuff! Maybe learn to use some heavy wall aluminum to reduce weight but maintain strength. Plus- i thought your professional gate technician was supposed to be born any day now?
