For all those saying shoulder charges are illegal. They used to be allowed in Rugby League when sonny first played for the bulldogs. They were made illegal after he got back in from his ban to play for the Roosters. He's a combination of absolute brilliance, speed and strength and above all he's not greedy and passes the ball. Check out his offloads if you don't believe me. Also, far the most disciplined and humble player you will ever meet.

I was playing rugby in the late 70's and early 80's and shoulder charges weren't allowed then. SBW wasn't even born then so I'm wondering where all the comments about this being in the days when you could shoulder charge are coming from.

I watch matches from the 80's and 90's and there's little difference in the pace of the game. I'm like you in that I cannot comprehend why they had this obsession with its pace. All it needed to bring it to the modern era was to get rid of the constant high shots and fighting. F'kin Melbourne bringing in the wrestling has done more damage to the sport than anything else imo
