No Native blood. Armenian. Her name is Cherilyn Sarkisian. I'm surprised more comparisons aren't made about her and Kim Kardashian. They have similar prominent Armenian features; long black hair, narrow face, curvy body, doe eyes, etc. Can anyone else see it?

Gosh, I really wish when people post videos that they would list the year the show first aired. The fact that they did Ringo's song in the medley plus the fashions make me think around 1972 or 1973. I remember Saturday night being THE night for tv. I haven't had broadcast tv in my house for a dozen years but even back then Saturday night was a graveyard. But the early '70s was before cable and of course the Internet so whatever was on the boob tube was IT. And I was just a little kid but I would watch "All in the Family," "Mary Tyler Moore" and "Sonny and Cher." Maybe "The Jeffersons" were in there, too.

@dajesusblues I know it may seem that Cher is the talented side of the duo,, which is true, but people don't realise that Sonny deserves some credit too. He was more the business side of Sonny and Cher, while Cher was obviously the talented side. Sonny actually made Cher, he found her, and basically made her a star.

Oh, I grew up with this music! Santa Claus brought me the very first Sonny and Cher albumn in 1965! Still own it! I wonder if it's worth anything? I have a lot of "first albumn's"!
@TrekToons13 жыл бұрын
@MrJasonhenry7 I guess you weren't around in those days. Sonny was already an accomplished songwriter before Cher even got to Hollywood. He had experience and many connections in the music industry. He saw Cher's talent immediately and used his influence to make her a star. After his music career was over, he re-invented himself by opening a Palm Springs restaurant, becoming Mayor of that city, then a U.S. Congressman. Cher owes her success to Sonny.

@TrekToons - That is what makes his story so sad - so much he accomplished and yet there was little regard to his talents. As Cher said at the Funeral Eulogy no one realize he was the one that made the "Sonny & Cher." He was that taken too soon. RIP Sonny. What I am disappointed is his grave site - it could look a lot better..

Sonny was a brilliant song writer, producer and arranger. He was a perfect butt of jokes to Cher. He was a member of Congress. He was the only member of Congress to ever have a #1 Billboard hit. Yet he seems so forgettable....
@castalia60able13 жыл бұрын
@TrekToons - That is for sure she will admit she owes him a lot because he was talented in making it happen for them. Also Sonny learned a lot fro Phil Spector while he worked for him during the earlier period of his life. He realized Cher had talent and because she was afraid to sing on stage alone Sonny became part of the Act called "Sonny & Cher." Still sad things didn't work out for them on a personal basis.

That bass line made the song. It was improvised by Carol Kaye in the studio playing her electric bass. Her history spanned decades, and as part of "the wrecking crew" has played on everything from Beach Boys Good Virbrations, Lalo Schrifirn's Mission Impossible Theme to Ben E King's Stand By Me.

Random thought but has anyone else ever noticed that Johnny Paycheck's country hit, Take This Job and Shove It, nicks the bassline from the original version of this tune, almost note for note? Granted, this is a pretty common melocic theme, but it's almost exactly the same...

+Glenn Marshall, No Glenn, It was taped at CBS Television City in Los Angeles; If you are still doubtful next time you watch the videos pay attention to the credits that come up at end of every show. Besides, the couple had a big mansion in the Holmby Hills wealthy neighborhoood of L.A.( before divorcing;) Why would they had gone up to Canada to do a television show? Think about it.
@glennmarshall46938 жыл бұрын
my friend told me this years ago, plus most of the comedy performers are Canadian, plus, one of the producers is Bob Einstein, who has worked in Toronto a lot as Super Dave.
@cayetanotirado59078 жыл бұрын
+Glenn Marshall , Yeah but the fact that many of the comedians were Canadians doesn't mean that Sonny and Cher, the CBS network and the producers of the show all went up to Toronto to do the show.. !!! do a search and you will find the facts right.
