I have been growing dreads for 7 years now and I feel the end coming soon in another 1-2 years. Sonny talking about his reason of change is an inspiration. Other celebrities with Dreads are Christian (ill Niño)and Jason Momoa (Ronon Dex in Stargate Atlantis).Now I know Jason Momoa cut his dreads for health reasons, but I do not know what meaning Christian of Ill Niño has for having dreadlocks. I want to thank Sonny for sharing a personal moment and his thoughts on the matter, Thank You.

I don't have a problem with people having dreads, just as long as it's not entirely done because you think it's 'cool.' You really do have to be a mellow, humble, down to earth person and really understand the origins of dreads to get them, too. On another note, this is the first interveiw i've seen with any POD member. This Sonny seems like a funny, intelligent dude. :)

Dread has a positive connotation in Rastafarian dialect, and can be used as a noun, indicating a man who "fears the Lord." I think Sonny is right when we have things we have held on to for a long time, symbols of great meaning to us, it is good to cleanse ourselves from things we feel we can't let go, Sonny proves you can let go and reGrow in spirit and his hair. Go Sonny, rock on!

I humbly have to disagree with the seemingly charming sonny about some of the reasons to getting dreads. :) Dreads have it's roots and meanings but i also think there's also just a concieved stigma about dreads. I personally don't think 'humility' when i see dreads. I think 'kick ass!' lol. But one will get some assumptions and attitude when getting dreads. I say, why not have both?
