Was there. Beyond Epic. When Ornette walked on stage buddy and I looked at each other and said: yes, its him. It was unforgettable.

I've played this head so many times from high school jazz band to jam sessions and literally never knew what it was called. Am I the only one?

Wonderful. Reminded me of Sonny on "Our Man in Jazz" with Don Cherry. Very eloquent, brilliant and inside-out. Great stuff. He sounds freer in a trio. With Haynes and McBride it really takes off and then add Ornette. Sonny also made me think of East Broadway Rundown (with Elvin, Jimmy Garrison and Freddie)...the faceted deconstruct-reconstruct approach viewed 44 years later. Thank you.

That's like Coleman Hawkins meeting Lester Young, the 2010 version. Only in this case the guy named Coleman (Ornette) is in the Lester Young position... Hearing these two giants together and at their 80s really adds a new perspective to their individual style. Truly historical.

A musical giant like Sonny Rollins nowadays has nothing more to add to his imposing carier.

They both play what music is there at that moment. No matter key and changes. Ornette and Sonny, both past 80 yrs old giving everyone a lesson on what "improvising" means in essence. Beautiful. They too old to lie posture shuck or jive....just music !!

...how about Roy Haynes on drums...are you kidding me...the man is 85 years old here. Today the man is 89 years old and still a great timekeeper.
@nicolassimion69675 жыл бұрын
mr corea kixx, roy is not a timekeeper....he is a great musician and a master of his instrument ! got it....?

@@nicolassimion6967 if he wasn't a great timekeeper, he wouldn't be a master of his instrument. or a bangin' tap dancer (which he also is)

During the first minute Sonny sounds like an old propellor airplane that moves away from you.

The first couple of minutes are utterly boring and un-swinging. The last few make up for that a bit but this shouldn't be 20 minutes.
