No drummer alive can deny the amazing sound of Sonor, but in my humble opinion, Sonor should make a rack, more seat choices, two leg hi hats, a remote hi hat.They should go back to the designer bass drum legs for their bass drums. Sound is the number one quality of an instrument of course but look shouldn’t be overlooked too.

I was a huge Sonor supporter, I played a 1960s Rosewood phonic kit for about 15 years and no matter what venue I played in the sound guy was always blown away by how easy it was to get a great mix and sound out of that kit. However, about 20 years ago, I switched to Tama. Sonor is extremely overpriced. Their hardware is clunky and heavy, their affordable drum sets suck and are made in China. Sonor drummers are absolutely amazing, but unless I win the lottery, I’ll never buy one of their drum sets ever again.

@@markusthedrummer8143 I have to disagree regarding their affordable line. I bought an AQX Bop kit (poplar shells) and they sound great to me. (Granted I had to change out all the stock heads.) But they have great tone, sustain and are built to last. I feel they are the best kit out there in that price range. And while they are indeed made in China, the Sonor details and quality control are all there.

I find the designer legs bulky and less original, like sticks you see from every other brand. I prefer the more nuanced, unique design of the sq2 spurs personally but to each their own. I do agree they need to be more innovative with their stands, thrones, pedals etc. They’ve done some in recent years with the 4000 hardware series but they’ve brought us nothing new in the flagship lines in forever. I’m glad they’ve started making more semi-affordable professional drum options to make the brand more accessible to newcomers such as the sq1/ vintage series but they’re missing a huge component of a set, stands and pedals….

@@codymb1374 the legs we’re talking about work great on their vintage series since it’s vintage ( sound wise look wise ).but if you take a close look at the designer ones they give the drum set a very modern futuristic look. We’re moving forwards not backwards. Unlike the old days, today Instagram, tik tok and youtube are the real deals with anyone shooting/posting videos, it doesn’t hurt to look good while doing those videos.

@@markusthedrummer8143 try to order a pearl masterworks or a DW collector and you’ll notice that they’re almost the same price.. All very high end drum sets are very expensive and are not meant to be sold to the average consumer.

No disrespect whatsoever to Mr. Mayer or Sonor Drums, but it does seem somewhat incongruous to have Big Fat snare dampeners on the snares and floor tom when demoing these drums for us. Not a very organic representation, even though he's getting the sound he likes with them.

Check out the Nir Z vid. They have a killer sound. I also have a set and can confirm they’re so nice, they feel good, give you great response. Not all drums do that. They sound killer too. They are pricey though.

Agreed... also, to each his own, but ad libbing to AI that's ad libbing to your ad lib?? That's a interesting circus act to me, that like a circus, is interesting ONCE. But people and music created with people seems to be the human sweet spot that never gets old... especially for a drummer, who is the least "musical" contributor in any band, per se. Just my opinion and thoughts. No disrespect to Mr. Mayer... who deserves legendary status for his contributions. Maybe my current fears and reservations regarding our new current chase to make the Terminator movies a reality is speaking out loud.

I love Jojo's commitment to innovation but currently generative music software doesn't do his skills justice.
