As a drummer myself I feel the need to tell you this: Amazing drumming. I've been watching a lot of videos about the SQ2 and I trully believe I may have found my dream kit. The sound is just incomparable to anything I've ever heard. It's just amazing. Your drumming makes it sing. You should be really proud of yourself. Amazing technique and great demonstration of what this kit is actually capable of. Very very good work man ❤️. Please NEVER stop drumming.

Without a doubt the sound projection that your kit has is completely stunning... One thing that really catches my attention about the configuration of your SQ2 is the thickness you have chosen for your Set. It's the first time that I see a configuration where the toms are Heavy, while the floor toms are Thin, being that finally your Kick is Medium. When the "most common" is to consider the toms as thin, floor toms medium/heavy and kick medium/heavy. Is it possible that you could explain us the reason why you have chosen this configuration (about thickness)? The truth is that I'm really surprised by the projection and sustain of your drums! Especially those Floor Toms, my God! Everything in this video is just perfect.
@AaronHoller2 жыл бұрын
The explanation is really quite simple in my opinion, because lower mass equals more sustain and lower fundamental, along with greater stick attack. The thin shell has less to get excited and moving when struck, and the output is sustain for days, enhanced resonance, and a lower overall fundamental note; a side effect is greater stick attack which is most pronounced with clear heads. With that same logic, I applied it to the smaller rack toms because of their smaller size, I first wanted to diminish the stick attack, and get more of a wood tone out of the shells as the primary objective. The heavy shells accomplished that by being thicker, they absorb more of that initial stick attack and then give more of the shell tone in my opinion. I went with a medium kick because Sonor doesn't offer anything thinner without rings, and I attribute that to the kick's overall size and being able to hold toms if configured that way. I too had not seen any video's demonstrating what was initially a theory, and my theory was proven with this kit, and I wanted to document it for others to get a baseline. I have an SQ2 in Beech with the same exact shell thicknesses, and dimensions minus the 10" being a 7" depth as opposed to an 8" in this video. I plan to create a demo of that kit and share it as well at some point.
