Surely you desire truth, truth in the inward parts; And you teach me wisdom, wisdom in the innermost place. With hyssop make me clean, wash me whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. And ide your face from my sins, blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

This is so beautiful. We too come to a place before the Lord when our sin overwhelms us and we throw ourselves upon the mercy of God, just as David has done here. We too also know that no Other can blot out our iniquity and we crave His cleansing and His restoration and joy of His salvation. No sweeter sound than that of the Lord saying, "Come unto Me, my child, you are forgiven". Nothing can cause us to worship God more than knowing we are truly forgiven and truly His. Thanks and bless you.

The word of God spoken or sung lifts our mortal life to a heavenly realm as we remember God. God desires all men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer and praise to Him. and when we humble ourselves he lifts us up. Can we ask any more of our creator than this, He forgives us all our wickedness and remembers them no more, and He loves us

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from all my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you only have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth Surely I was sinful at birth.

Open up my lips, and I will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifices, or surely I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in offerings, O LORD but the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit and a contrite heart. The LORD will never despise a broken spirit and a contrite heart. In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem. Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

(Psaumes, 51)

the melody in the middle part of the psalm that says "create in me a clean heart..." is ripped from an old praise chorus. Are they giving credit to the original author, who might have been Mike Hudson...I think it was his..?
@ldion0904
@ldion0904 8 жыл бұрын
The original author was David who wrote this after confessing his adultery with Bathsheba (see Psalm 51, verse 10 is what you referenced) The group Sons of Korah have written music to many of the psalms found in the Bible. They do give credit to the author and honor God by performing these beautiful tunes.

Alana is right! Although I grew up listening to Keith Green sing it. I think it is a nice nod to earlier settings of this text and am sure that Sons of Korah did it on purpose.

exactly. If you ever hear this in liturgy (Orthodox Church) or in some other form, the author is ALWAYS David, and the Holy Spirit, Who inspired him. Not any contemporary writer.

Keith Green wrote a song based on Psalm 51 “Create in me a clean heart” back in the 70’s (he passed away many years ago). This chorus’ melody is a copy of the first verse of Keith’s song. I do hope the authors of this song credit him in their work.

We are being told by the religious rockers that we must look and sound like the world in order to reach the youth of this generation. They say, many young people will not listen to the gospel or come to church so we must meet them on some common ground. Wrong, that common ground is rock and roll. In other words, they are saying that preaching of the Word of God is no longer sufficient for both young and old. If this is true, then we should open bars in order to reach the multitudes of drinkers. We should open porno-shops in order to reach those who engage in smut. Shouldn't we go to their level so we can bring them to the Lord Jesus Christ? So what if we do evil if the end result is good? What's a little compromise with God's standards of holiness and separation if it results in souls being saved?... This type of reasoning is one of the doctrines of demons that Christians are accepting. Does it not make sense that the same Bible that has worked successfully to this time, will continue to work for both the young and the old? How many Christians love God's people enough to say, "no more! Throw this satanic filth out of the church and back into hell where it belongs"? Do you realize that just 10 years ago this evil music would not have even remotely been considered as a suitable method to sing and praise God. That type of music would have been immediately thrown out of the churches. What we are witnessing today is the spiritual and moral degeneration that is affecting Christians to the degree that many no longer have any discernment between good and evil. Does anyone see the way this heathen dresses? Is he wanting to look Christian or look like a punk rocker? Easy answer! I have been told by more than 10 religious rockers it's the words, not the music, THEN USE A PIANO! Half the worldly church crowd would not darken a door of a church without entertainment, Come out of the world and be ye separate! This rock is what gets teenagers in trouble to start with and when someone gets in serious trouble this watered down rock is the last thing they need!

Cool down buddy, the song doesn't obscure the message. Rock music is to be condemned when it awakens carnal instincts rather than worship of God. This song rather makes me focus on God's words. And God created music to be enjoyed, nothing wrong as long as it doesn't awaken sinful instincts. Peace of Jesus be with you :-)
@e.garcia618
@e.garcia618 7 жыл бұрын
The problem i it's a bad message, i have seen hundreds and hundreds of false professions of faith from these teens getting their fleshly nature stirred and make commitments to Christ over emotions, which are false professions and last several months I have counseled rock Christian band members who saw kids throw their joints and drugs on stage while on an emotional high and where are all these kids today. Rock is satanic, mixing it with Gods words doesn't make it holy, at the home of grace where i work part time 3 things we work to get these men released from-Drugs-alcohol,rock music--all 3 go hand in hand,music sets out emotions! When we study music scripturally David played music to sooth Saul's spirit, there it is to sooth our spirit, The other instance where we see rock music was when Moses left the children of Israel and he went up on the mountain. Guess what when he heard the loud music he also found them NAKED and DANCING. There are some good articles on Lennon said he could destroy a country by its music, i hope you are open minded to this and want to learn how this jungle beat causes many problems in Church and in young kids lives, look what Disney and rock has done to Brittney Spears and Myley Cyrus. Cheers.

I agree. But how do I determine which ones to avoid? I know it'd be stupid to seek to worship God through the work of pagans. But if a inspired believer makes music for God's glory and it sounds like soft rock (not the heady carnal stuff) and I'm able to consciously worship God through the song, the genre distinction doesn't matter. I say that rather than looking at the genre, songs by believers have to be judged on the basis of God's approval and by its ability to inspire worship worthy of God's holiness.

One sure way to know is to seek Gods clarity on it, we know if we seek the truth he will show it to his children. One give away is if a song has a beat it's wrong, the flesh we live in loves through it's carnal nature a beat, one thing that helped me is seeing the video of David Cloud on music.This will settle the music issue for you if you are open to learning the truth. Pastor David Cloud - Sacred vs. Contemporary Christian Music Worship through music is not scriptural, music is intended to comfort us, worship services and worshiping through music is new but the church is ;;for the edification of the saints for the work of the ministry, training us to witness, teach others to be disciples and that comes through the teaching of Gods word. I know first hand as i traveled all over in the 80's listening to Jimmy Swaggarts singing and leaving when the sermon started, i was lost and undone till several Independent Baptist knocked on my door and told me about a Saviour, Praise the Lord.

Ezra 3:11 And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.” And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.2 Chronicles 5:There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the people of Israel, when they came out of Egypt. 11 And when the priests came out of the Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves, without regard to their divisions, 12 and all the Levitical singers, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, their sons and kinsmen, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood east of the altar with 120 priests who were trumpeters; 13 and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord), and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the Lord,“For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever,”the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.Psalm 68:24 our procession is seen, O God, the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary- 25 the singers in front, the musicians last, between them virgins playing tambourines: 26 “Bless God in the great congregation, the Lord, O you who are of Israel's fountain!” 27 There is Benjamin, the least of them, in the lead, the princes of Judah in their throng, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.
