Just to add on - If I have to convey the last bit about "why should we take a pause" or "why do great communicators take a pause before replying" would be , give a thought on the points which customer has mentioned and then reply/response not just because they will think that as a sales person we've listened to them. Sir I understood your point that we have to build relationship with the customer to know the problem that he's facing tht we can solve with our product. But when a salesperson approaches a customer he/she in an instant makes up their mind that this person's main motive is to SELL. So how it get over this thinking & convince customers that we want to help them not only sell it for our profit?

Dont let your customer think that you are there for selling, think yourself as problem investigator and let them tell you if they are having the need and tell them that this is the solution for their need. Show proofs how it solved people problem with same product/service and its up to them to buy. You are consultant
