Great comparison. Way way way better put together video than some of the other KZbin who has millions of views. Pity you haven't got the same amount of views. Keep up the good work.

Nice comparison, a lot of effort gone into this video. Been using the 20mm 1.8 and generally happy with it. Only thing is it focus hunts quite a bit in low light. Also, maybe start your timestamps at 00:00 so chapters are added to the actual video playback bar :)

Thanks for the review and very well done it was too. That purple fringing on the GM has put me right off. Reckon it would get on my nerves after a while. Seems wrong that the 20mm deals with this better.

@@KOKOBC Yeah, the minimum focusing distance is actually shorter than the listed 19cm. It's something like 15cm or so. It lets me do all sorts of wacky perspective stuff. Once again, this lens is a gem.

I have the 20 for full frame and love it. But on the 6400 I use the Laowa 9 2.8 It’s $500 and MF but it’s a magnificently sharp lens with everything thing in focus past a couple feet. Would love a decent AF Aps-c lens at 12mm from Sony or Sigma as the Samyang AF wasn’t up to par for my taste.

The sigma DG DN ART not the HSM is great lens, from my experience Sigma lenses tend to be a good alternative to native so you're not making a bad choice if you can't afford the Sony and get the Sigma instead. My only complaint with Sigma lenses in general is that the dust seals on them are ussualy not so good so they get dust inside quite fast ,never tested them in the rain but if dust goes inside so easily I would be extra careful in wet environments.

Hi,thanks for the interesting review. It would be great that you compared the new Sony fe 24mm f2.8 lens and the Zeiis batis 25 mm f2 lens. Do you consider the Sony fe 20 mm f1.8 lens appropiate for cityscapes and street photography or you think the 24 mm focal length is more suitable?
@florinG3 жыл бұрын
Hi, first of all you're welcome, I'll consider making a comparison between the Sony and the Zeiss lenses. As for which one between the 20 and 24 is more suited for cityscapes is a preference matter anything wider than 35 can be used for that, thanks.

@florinG3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I have not used it on the a6400 to be honest even though I own both but it will probably be to narrow for vlogging because it will the equivalent of 30mm. The best and I wish Sigma or Sony will make one would be a lens around 12 to 14 mm.

I just bought the 24gm and was surprised it makes a slight clicking sound when it's focusing in AF-S or AF-C mode. I am wondering if this is normal o maybe the lens is damaged.

It shouldn't be too noisy, if your one is very noisy it may be defective, if you have any concerns perhaps it is best to send it back.

HEY ! : When You say at the beginning "so without further blabla, let's get strait to the video" , guess what.. You subject us to one of those "must have, professional, Your branding" intro segment. So if WE may educate You a little too; at least dont pervert the little intellectual honesty left on this earth that keeps hope a chance. Otherwise I find this video superb, the attitude. Perhaps one (very important) thing that should be reminded more often (or always): Rogger Ciopola from Lens Rentals scientifically shows how copy variability among same lens models can vary "hugly". So at each optical performance comparison of just two lenses the chances in percents could be given quite accurately of one lens being say still within the tollerance range of -9 and the other lens in + 8 ( +-10 among its copies). Theoretically one should compare copies of lenses that are in the same tolerance segment. If not, then mention what are the chances of the findings to actually be inversable (i.ex. what is the probability that the amount of chromatic aberration difference could be annulled or inversed when comparing two other copies of the same lens models). Just mention copy quality variability is real. (Same as one lens can be bad on one side, on one camera, and good on another camera mount if their off-perfect assembly cancel or cummulate themselves) But I really appreciate Your video.
@florinG3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. I do acknowledge that some lens copies vary on quality, I actually had some bad copies of Nikon Z lenses, however, at the end of the day it's Sony duty to make sure they only let out lenses are are worthy of the name/class and price, if their quality inspection is poor then I'm not the one disinforming people they are the ones who do not deliver on their quality like they should. I'm a one man band and I cannot afford at least at the moment testing lots of copies before I give a verdict, what I have is what I test. Anyways thanks for the compliments, and for the feedback. I'll condider what you said, stay safe.
