Good info but would like to have seen a final slide with your recommended lenses for different situations/scenarios for those that dont know. Like 50mm f1.8 for potraits, 35mm f1.8 for street/travel/all around, etc . Also some of the lenses are able to be used on the Full Frame A7 series cameras whereas some are not so if they are ever planning to upgrade or add a FF camera that would also be a big consideration.

A quick tip for you - put the music always as a background music, so it doesn't come and go at 50% when you're not talking and 25% when you're talking.

I have been looking DXO tests, dpreview, photozone for 1 week comparing Sony Alpha 6000 kit to other lenses and bodies, wondering if i would be able to afford the body and a couple of primes. Then i watched your video and order the kit. I will see later if i need more lenses. Now, it's time to take photos!

Great video people saying your music to load well that keeps you focused grabs your attention. However I have the 6300 currently have the 50mm1/4 also 18-105 G lens. My passion is landscapes and now wildlife stuff. The 105 isn’t tight enough in most cases. My prime 50 I take out to do landscapes I believe it’s pretty decent for what it is sharpness is preciously. I just don’t know what to do next for my next lens. Keep up the great work !!! Thank you

Thanks for your very helpful videos. I really like the way you explain things. Anyone can understand them. I would like to ask for your advice. I currently own a Canon 5D. It's a full frame camera, but is the first generation and does not take video. It takes great pictures, but I want to start shooting video too. I also own a sony a6300 that I just bought a couple o weeks ago because of the video features. I know that the lens I use the most are the canon 50mm f/1.4, a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and a 24mm f/1.4L. Is there a way that I can use these lenses with my sony camera without loosing the autofocus? Or do you recommend to buy some sony mount lenses with the same characteristics as my other lenses. I can't afford expensive lenses at the moment and the ones I have now took me a while to get. That's why I need some help deciding what to do and you really are a wise man. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+lamarcy You might talk to the guys at Sony and/or B&H to see if there are adapters that will autofocus your Canon lenses. It's confusing because some of the adapters will focus- but they focus slowly. IF you buy one, make sure you can send it back for a refund if you don't like it. Otherwise, the 10-105G is a great general purpose / video lens.

Thanks for this video. Really helpful. I just got the a6300 and I'm trying to figure out what lenses would be best for me.
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+greysuit17 Thanks! I was worried my "message" had gotten "lost in the sauce" on this video. Pay attention to how the shape of the girls face changes with the different focal lengths. Compare the bokeh (background blur) that the lenses get at the various distances and then compare that to the bokeh that the "prime lenses" produced. Finally- work through the questions about focal length; Speed (f/stops, fast / slow); Distortion/Compression; Working Distance; Price; Sharpness, etc... If you do these things and it helps you to confidently buy lenses (and you don't regret your purchase 6 months later! ha ha!) then I'll consider this video a success. I also made a video called "Sony A6000- Why I Love My Humble Kit Lens" that you may find helpful too!

Hey brad quick questions! What settings do you use for your Go Pro angles? As well as the exporting process and such.
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+Cody Perry I stick the GoPro up on my seamless background stand. I have it set to ISO 1600 (?) and wide. That's really about it. I just export the clips into FCP-X and edit away.

Thank you for sharing. What are the white partition walls you had made out of ?
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+Brandon Starnes They are DIY V-flats. I just used 4'x8' pieces of construction foam. I cut them down to 6' tall. I painted one side white for reflection and the other side the same dark gray I used for the walls to subtract light. I just taped 2 panels together with gaffer's tape. They're light weight and can be folded up and tucked into a corner when not in use.

Hey thanks Robert! Glad to hear you're liking the videos. If you go to the 24 second mark- that shot is from a GoPro Hero 3 Black. The tripod on the right is holding my A5100 with the 18-105G lens. You can see I use the flip up screen to make sure my head stays in the shot. The other tripod holds my A6000 with the 16-50mm kit lens. It is set for the wide shot. I edit the 3 shots + audio I record into my cell phone together in Final Cut Pro- X.
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
For the still shots I used in the video I used the A6000 body. I used the 16-50mm kit lens and the 55-210 zoom. I gave the focal length and f/stop beside the stills. I was shooting wide open on the 2 zoom lenses. I also used the 50mm f/1.8 so when you wee that focal length and f/1.8 stated it will be that lens. Also, when you see 85mm f/2 that was the Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 lens shot at f/2. When you see 135mm f/2 that was the Rokinon 135mm f/2 lens. I hope this helps and doesn't just confuse folks.

brad thanks for the info, i have a a 6000 and am looking for a 400mm or longer to shoot sports,,, what are the options?
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+lupadula Currently, there are no native Sony E mount lenses in that focal length. You'll need to adapt either an A-mount lens or a lens from another manufacturer. Since I don't own or shoot those focal lengths let me stop here and not pretend to offer "expert" advise on this one!

I own the 70-400 GII : it's an awesome lens with A77 to shoot animals, even at 400, wide open. I shot birds and bull portrait in Camargue (France) yesterday. Just be careful with E mount, even with LA-EA4 : you will have AF, but no stabilisation with this system. Maybe the shorter E mount 70-300 OSS (stabilised and lighter) is a better solution if you don't need the extra 100mm ;)

Hi, Brad. I'm an A6000 user , should I get sony E 35mm f1.8 oss instead of 50mm f1.8? thanks

+how1001 how Watch the video again. Take some test shots yourself. Answer the 6 questions / parameters I discussed- then, you'll be able to decide for yourself. So, you tell me - which lens provides the framing, compression/distortion, speed, price, working distance and sharpness that your unique situation and setting requires.
