I used both kit lenses (this and the tele lens) when i got my a6000. They worked absolutely great, especially the tele lens when portrait photographing (it actaully had some nice bokeh, allthough it was an f-stop of 6.3). But as I progressed with photography and decided to go out to some later hour, as the sune was setting, this small(er apsc-)sensor and the high f-stop simply didn't made it. I recently sold my a6000 after 4 years of intense usage and got a Sony A7RIII with the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 and the Sony 50mm 1.8. SO in total, this camera in combination with both kit lenses (which i absolutely loved) told me everything i know about photography until this point and I am now ready to level up my skills with the better gear, as it simply opens more doors to creativity in my opinion. Best regards from Hamburg, Germany - sevn

Good addition to POVs w/different lens series. Usefulness and limits of lens illustrated. Curtis the camera juggler and stalker of ladies w/umbrellas - nice 😁. 6:17 reflection hot spot; good reflection capture at 7:09. Raindrops vs building focal pt - why not do a focus stack of 2 or 3 pics next time? Lens is “good enough” but has major distortions that depend on in-post correction. In LR try toggeling lens profile correction on/off to see the difference. BTW, cool haircut😁. Subtle pitch to London-based viewers to put you up for a night, next time you visit? Cheers!

Hi Curtis, I am just getting into street photography. I would like to ask, what do you do when people approach you or get confrontational about you taking their picture without permission? I find it a bit invasion of privacy and I am not British which makes me susceptible to weird situations and wouldn't want to start a scene with someone who feels I didn't take their permission before taking the pictures.
@PancakeDiaries11 ай бұрын
U could just introduce urself, and ask... Or use a telephoto lens, or something in the range that doesn't require such a close encounter. I personally find that longer focal lengths produce better candids than the short teles and wide angles
@princeharis71562 жыл бұрын
I'm all set to buy a Sony A6400. I had a few options and I selected this one finally. Just one question though. It comes with 2 different kit lens options. A 16 to 50 mm and an 18 to 135 mm. Which one should I get. I'm just a beginner so can't decide by myself.
@benjaminzarkhin1293 Жыл бұрын
There's a pretty steep increase in cost between those two options (at leastcin my region), and at first you should consider what you are planning on shooting- if it's wildlife, sports and/or anything that requires to punch into subjects from a distance, then saving up for the telephoto would probably be the better choice. Otherwise, like me, who plans on mainly shooting landscape, travel, urban, portraits and/or situations where you don't need as much zoom and could actually benefit from the wider fov, then go for the standard 16-50.

Some really nice shots here! I didn't think the kit lens could even do this. I actually think you're one of the best on KZbin. I have a question: Why are you using the widest aperture (e.g., f/3.5) in most photos? I would have expected you to use f/8 in most of those architecture shots. Is it because you wanted a shallower depth of field, to separate the subject from everything else? And does that work even when focusing far away?
