I purchased my Sony a 6600 about four months ago. KZbin suggested your video. I want to thank you for doing it. It’s just as useful as it was four years ago when you made the video. And the excellent feature of having it timestamp to jump from one topic to the other and keep it as a reference for future use just a great saver. Thank you for your video.

OMG I've been looking for a video like this. Other people put so much junk in their a6600 videos - this is extremely thorough, organized, clear, and the inclusion of topic bookmarks is so great. This video is amazing, thank you!!!!!

Im a firm believer in the uselessness of commenting on youtube videos but let it be known that if 2022 you purchased an a6600, the creator of this video was serious when he said this was meant to be a tool to come back to get refreshed on things as time goes on. I find myself coming back here time and time again to get a better understanding of how to use my camera to the best of its abilities. This video is really fucking helpful and i applaud the creator for making it for free.

Every once in awhile i come across something on KZbin that is worth it's weight in Gold. Not only is this a perfect video as i sit here with my (new to me) a6600 and i get to walk through all the things i may have skipped or thought "i dont need that", but, it's also a college level beginner crash course on the fundamentals of good photography. Thanks for taking the time to give us this knowledge. FOR FREE! Sony should give you a free camera for this.

Very useful vid. I watched start to finish and it really helped understand the camera and how to set it up to start getting photos I want from it. Will play with what I took away from this vid, will consider the crash course for sure after I work with the camera for a bit. I'm blow away by the capabilities of the 6600 and can't imagine anyone uses all of them, and likley way more camera than I actually needed. But, it appears I will not need a new camera for a long time! My plan is to shoot in A mode per vid recs and see what I get.

Michael I rented this camera for a week to test on my 100-400 and 200-600 for wildlife, the performance is exceptional. The autofocus and battery life are amazing, what I don't like is the form factor and controls. Sony needs to take this camera and put it in an a7 body and they would have a winner on their hands

Good overview of the A6600. Just upgrade to the A6600 from the A6000 and the manual is 165 pages! The video, a bit long which the time markers was handy, did go over what was needed to know on the camera controls. FYI for the beginners, that Michael may or may not know; I was told by the Tamron rep at the photo show in NYC that Tamron makes Sony lens. A high Tamron lens is equal to or similar than the Sony counter part. This was confirm by a rep from Sony at a different show.

Thank you for responding to my question. I think I have figured it out. I can use the screen as a touch pad (using view finder) with using any focus area except wide and center (tracking or non tracking). My settings are:Touch Panel/Pad set to Touch Panel+Pad and Touch Pad settings set to Operation in Vertical Orientation set to ON and Touch Position Mode set to Absolute Position and Operation Area set to Right 1/2. I am surprised by this as I can use the screen as a touch pad with both center and wide focus areas on my a6400.

this video is a fantastic resource for a new a6600 user! 1 question: on the Manual Steadyshot settings, is that asking for the physical focal length of the lens, or the cropped equivalent on APS-C?

dang that was a long video, I did learn a good amount though. I just recently got the a6600 as my very first camera.

Great tutorial - I'm stumped on one thing if anyone knows. When I'm in Aperture Priority Mode and changing the aperture, the shutter speed is not showing as a fraction but in inches and I don't know how to change it to make it show up like in the video.

Yes, exactly - Aperture Priority mode works by measuring the light in your current situation. Go outside during the day and watch it change. Those “ marks mean seconds. It’s because you are using your camera in a dark situation and it would require a long exposure to get enough light.
