Great video!!! I have both of these camera's and they seem to be equal on the bird eye lock-on and tracking.

Thanks for watching!! I was totally proven wrong by the a7iv. I swear, there were multiple situations when the Bird AF did not respond….haha.

Thanks Fred and to your wife, great 'real time' video out in the field and points about the a6700. I've had the Sony a6700 3 months now and love it. Had Full frame Canon in the past. The a6700 takes excellent phots, just can't see the difference with FF. As you say a6700 is lighter, cheaper and great lens reach with 1.5 crop factor. I use Sony 70-350 G (105 - 525mm) lens, sure it's a bit 'slower' f4.5 - 6.3 but had great results so far - birds in flight and our family dog at top speed! Nails the shots with Subject Recognition. I find the EVF clear , a6700 has a good eyecup out from the EVF so can get a decent view with eye pressed against it. Thanks again. Happy Shooting All:) Mike.

I jumped from Nikon to Sony when I switched to mirrorless. I purchased the A6700 because I felt it would work for birds and then when I can afford a full frame it would be great for video/vlogging. So far I’m very happy with it and I agree with your assessment. I just found your channel and subscribed, I enjoyed you and your wife’s input! I’m looking forward to more videos!

@@ChristopherErringtonPhoto hey, thanks! That means a lot to me and I appreciate it. The a6700 is pretty impressive. I was a full frame snob admittedly but this little beast has been an awakening. The image and all the features from cameras twice the cost are no brainers for anyone at any level to jump on this. I’m currently putting out my Ireland vacation videos. It’s a bit more vloggy but I do go over some gear and how I made the videos. Thanks for the sub!!!

Falcons can hover, looking for its next meal. I had one drop in one time, a youngster who could not get off the ground higher than one foot. Saw mom looking for her baby. Wife and I gave it beef and chicken. In a week, the kid was strong enough to fly away and it did. Beautiful bird. Got lots of photos of it while it stayed in my backyard for a week. I now have the a6700, upgrading the a6600. Both are great but the technology in the a6700 makes it an incredible camera. With the new sensor and A7R5 focusing technology, the a6700 is really an exceptional camera. For birding, macro and family photos, etc., it can't be beat. The only next step up would be the A7CR or a7R5 with that amazing 61mp sensor. Get your lady a monopod if you don't have one. That 200-600mm zoom is a little heavy. Probably will help when trying to track birds in flight. Great photos of your subjects. Happy birding.

Hello! Thanks so much for watching, commenting and I'm sorry for the delay getting back to you. I bet those pics of the young falcon are incredible! The a6700 is a very impressive camera, I don't see a lot of people talking about it and I think that is a shame for sure. Full Frame is def the more popular setup as far as reviewers go but, this little apsc is a beast. Like you said a7Riv AF in an affordable light weight design, crazy good!!! Haha, yes....a mono for my wife would prob be a smart play!!! Thanks again.

@@FredCallahan What was so fun with the falcon was watching it. We fed it chicken and bison meat. And a little frozen hamburger. I can't say the images are fantastic, it's memory of that critter. It is long gone, hunting and enjoying life. I rarely see falcons though I see lots of crows, few ravens and a hawk being chased by crows.

Loved your video. I myself am a music KZbinr but love camera gear. Wish you the best with your channel. I think you are on to something. Your content feels more accessible and “home grown” than some of the other camera channels. It connects. The dynamic between you and your wife is also entertaining as well and I think great for your vids. -Frank

Hey, thanks for watching and your kind words. This made my day, honestly thank you. I just try to be myself and talk about stuff that interests me. I just got back from Ireland and I'm about to start editing a whole series of travel videos. Tons of fun stuff coming up. Thanks again and have a great day!!!

Thank you for the video, I like the vibe 🙂 Question: what is your impression about AF in the video? Side question: how did you record EVF?
@FredCallahan5 ай бұрын
Hello! Thanks for watching and commenting. Sorry for the delay, life is crazy. The AF for the most part was as good if not better than the a7iv. I think the additional AI chip in the a6700 really helps improve the AF tracking and the subject recognition. I think the EVF video shows the hit box working just a bit better in the a6700 but, I also think that the situation I tested in was very optimal for both cameras, meaning, in sub par conditions the a6700 would look even better. As for the EVF recording, I used the Ninja V plus and used the "dirty" hdmi signal from both cameras. Thanks again

Remember, once you pick bird in the focus system now hit the Right arrow.. in there are 4 more choices in sub menus on where to focus on the bird and others how " sticky" you want it to track those areas.. head body head and body etc etc.. This is avail for all of the focus tracking modes human animals birds etc etc..
@FredCallahan5 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! I totally forgot about that area selector for the a6700. What's odd is that the zve1 does not have those options. It has the latests firmware and I thought the AI processor was the same.

Great video. Glad to hear someone else sees the value in full frame lenses on asp c cameras. The a6700 is a good camera for just about everything with the right lenses on it. Of course the best lenses cost a lot.

Sony should make a new APSC Camera with better EVF, good joystick and the Sony 40 megapixels sensor that Fuji uses.
@FredCallahan5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree with the evf but, is 40 mp too high? I think it's a cost issue, trying to keep the camera in the "more affordable" range. All things considered, what the a6700 is missing is acceptable compared to the features it has at the price. Ya know?
@cameraprepper79385 ай бұрын
@@FredCallahan I have two 61 megapixels Cameras now, but if Sony made a high end ""A7000" with 40 megapixels, then I will but it ASAP ! Because it will be perfect for Birds, Wildlife and Macro Photography. Fuji APSC Cameras are much more expensive than Sony APSC cameras, so the market are there, but maybe Sony have a contract with Fuji about the Sony 40 megapixels sensor !? You do know it is Sony sensors that Fuji use !?
@J-Young_photography4 ай бұрын
APSC is definitely better for birding, as it provides a 1.5X crop. yes the EVF a bit too small.

Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm totally sold on apsc especially the a6700 for wildlife. The AI chip is the game changer for all the new sony cameras. Other companies are chasing sony in the AF game. But, let's see what the new Canon R1/R5mii have to say....

Thank you fred for you vedio. But it would have been better if you had posted few pictures taken by bird eye focus. Especially for birds like crackle and glossy ibis the af becomes super tricky unless you are in golden hour. That will clear describe the capability of bird recognition system.
